The Mother Body let out an enraged roar, causing the entire cave to begin collapsing. Xu Rong felt the power within him fully awaken as he extended his hands, releasing a dazzling light. The light transformed into countless glowing chains that bound the Mother Body tightly.
The Underground Cave vibrated violently, and the Meat Cocoons hanging on the walls burst open one after another, their slime mixing with blood to form streams on the ground.
"You have no idea what you're up against!"
The surface of the Mother Body suddenly cracked, revealing a dark shell beneath. Its form began to swell, and eight spider-like appendages pierced through its fleshy exterior. The Compound Eyes arranged themselves into bizarre geometric patterns—this was the true form of the alien creature.
Xu Rong felt a sharp pain in the back of his head, as if being pricked by needles, and suddenly flashes of memories that did not belong to him surged forth: In the vast universe, countless egg sacs like meteors traversed through nebulae, one of which fell into the primordial oceans of Earth...
"Do you see?"
The voice of the Mother Body pierced directly into his mind, "We sow the seeds of life and harvest mature genes. Dinosaurs, Homo sapiens, modern humans... merely different seasonal experiments."
Suddenly, Xu Rong's Bone Blade extended uncontrollably and stabbed into his thigh. The excruciating pain jolted him awake—his nerves were being interfered with. Blood dripped onto the ground, causing the fleshy surface to emit a scream-like wail.
Doctor Lin suddenly lunged at the Mother Body, her body disintegrating in mid-air into countless glowing particles. These particles formed a cage that temporarily trapped the Mother Body, her voice exploding in Xu Rong's mind: "Its core is at the base of the third appendage!"
Xu Rong leaped into action, swinging his Bone Blade to slice through the approaching tendrils. The moment the base of the Mother Body's appendage was exposed, he saw embedded there a human brain—it was his wife's missing brain, with neural synapses connecting to the alien organism.
"You think she is dead?"
The Compound Eyes of the Mother Body blinked simultaneously. "We have preserved her most perfect parts..."
Xu Rong's pupils constricted into vertical slits as glowing patterns beneath his skin surged violently. Time and space froze at that moment; he saw countless branches of possibilities: In one timeline, his wife's brain screamed in a culture medium; in another dimension, his genetic chain was merging and recombining with alien DNA.
As time began to flow again, Xu Rong's Bone Blade had already pierced through the brain.
However, the expected explosion did not occur; instead, an eerie silence enveloped the surroundings. The pierced brain suddenly opened thousands of eyes, and all the Meat Cocoons resonated simultaneously, causing the Underground Cave to collapse into a Klein Bottle structure.
"Welcome to the Temporal Corridor," a voice echoed from all directions. Xu Rong found himself standing in a hospital corridor, where Doctor Lin was approaching with a medical record in hand—this was a scene from three months ago, caught in an infinite loop.
During the two hundred thirty-seventh cycle, Xu Rong noticed something unusual: each time the loop reset, the clock at the Nurse Station would gain 0.03 seconds. When the discrepancy accumulated to thirteen seconds, he slammed into the wall adorned with children's drawings.
Reality shattered like glass, and Xu Rong fell into a pure white space.
Countless DNA double helix models floated around him, each spiral marked with a civilization number: NT-114 (Dinosaurs), NT-228 (Homo Sapiens), NT-309 (Modern Humans)…
At the end of this space, a label flickered—NT-310—representing the new gene stirring within him.
"You have finally found it," the Mother Body's essence appeared at the center of the Gene Pool. It took the form of a Star-shaped Creature composed of glowing tendrils. "NT-310 is the ultimate evolutionary form, but it requires the host's voluntary fusion..."
