Gabriel hazily felt something being shoved into his mouth. 0

He warily spat it out, opened his eyes, and found a farm girl trying to feed him medicine. 0

The girl was slender, wearing a faded blue dress. Her round face had a faint blush, and her long black hair cascaded smoothly over her shoulders, with a few stray strands adding to her playful charm. 0

Seeing Gabriel awake but reluctant to drink the medicine, she looked at him with a questioning expression. 0

The girl hurriedly spoke, "My name is Cuihua. My brother brought you here after finding you gravely injured. I made some herbal medicine for you, but I didn’t expect you to spit it out." 0

"I’ve learned about herbs from the village Auntie for a while. These herbs are meant to heal wounds and nourish your blood and energy. You can trust me and drink it!" 0

With that, Cuihua began to feed him the herbal soup spoonful by spoonful. 0

As a demon, Gabriel initially didn’t believe in such remedies. However, due to the fusion of a part of human soul within him, he found himself drinking it when Cuihua offered it again. He thought to himself, "It’s fine; I’m a demon. Some human herbs won’t affect me." 0

Cuihua was delighted to see Gabriel drink the medicine. When he stared at her intently, she lowered her head, her face flushing with embarrassment. 0

Gabriel was puzzled and turned his head to see his reflection in the mirror—he looked quite handsome. 0

In the human world, he would undoubtedly be considered a good-looking man. 0

"No wonder!" 0

Gabriel chuckled inwardly. In the Abyss, power was the only standard of respect; no one cared about appearance. But in the human world, this visage seemed to have an effect. He discreetly observed Cuihua, noting her simple yet clean clothing, her cheeks flushed with shyness, and her eyes filled with warmth and concern. 0

"Thank you," Gabriel said, trying to use a gentle tone. This was the first time he had expressed gratitude to a human; it felt somewhat awkward but brought a glimmer of surprise to Cuihua's eyes. 0

"No need to thank me; just focus on recovering," Cuihua softly replied, her voice as pleasant as a mountain spring. She stood up to tidy the medicine bowl, her movements gentle and practiced. 0

Leaning against the bedside, Gabriel began to contemplate his situation. He felt extremely weak and needed time to regain his strength. This farmhouse seemed like a temporarily safe haven; perhaps he could use this time to recuperate while also learning about this world. 0

Watching Cuihua busying herself, an idea suddenly struck him. 0

"Cuihua, I’ve been unconscious for so long that I don’t remember much. Where is this place?" Gabriel feigned amnesia and asked pitifully. 0

Cuihua stopped her actions and walked to the bedside, sitting down patiently. "This is Qingshan Village, located in the east of the Gamma Empire. We have always lived in peace here, but recently, there have been strange noises coming from the forest. You were injured in the forest; do you know what happened?" 0

Gabriel's heart tightened. He couldn't reveal his connection to the demons. Pretending to struggle to remember, he said, "I only recall encountering a pack of terrifying beasts in the forest. I was injured while trying to escape, and after that, I don't remember anything else." 0

The woman sighed softly and replied, "It seems the forest has indeed become dangerous. You must be careful once you recover." 0

Her eyes were filled with concern, stirring an unusual feeling within Gabriel. In the Abyss, there was only endless slaughter and schemes among demons; no one had ever looked at him with such emotion. 0

"No, I can't show human emotions. I am a demon!" 0

Gabriel straightened his posture again. "That's right; I only want to use this woman." 0

"Exactly!" 0

"Hahaha, brother, are you feeling better?" 0

A loud voice interrupted Gabriel's thoughts. 0

It was Brother Cuihua, the burly man from before. 0

Gabriel quickly got up to thank him but was stopped by the strong man. "You have injuries; there's no need to get up." 0

"Thank you for your help!" 0

"Ah, it's nothing. When danger strikes, we should help each other out, right?" 0

The strong man laughed heartily. 0

"Just rest here; Cuihua will prepare some herbal medicine for you. Drinking it will help you recover quickly." 0

Gabriel nodded in agreement. Thus, he settled down in this place. 0

That night, the moon hung high in the sky, casting a cold light through the window into the room. 0

As most people drifted into slumber, Gabriel's eyes suddenly snapped open, glinting with an eerie light under the moon's glow. 0

"Ugh, how can these herbs help me recover quickly?" 0

He cursed silently in his heart, his voice barely a whisper, buzzing like a mosquito. "If I want to recover fast, I need fresh blood and fresh souls!" 0

Gabriel quietly rose from the bed, ensuring he hadn’t woken anyone. He slowly made his way to the door, each step taken with utmost caution. 0

The towering trees around him loomed ominously, their dense branches intertwining and exuding a suffocating atmosphere. 0

Ordinary people might feel uneasy in such surroundings, but for a demon dwelling in the abyss, it was as if he were swimming in familiar waters. 0

His gaze revealed the unique ferocity and greed of a demon, carefully searching for traces of prey in the dim light. 0

Suddenly, a wild rabbit darted out from the underbrush. A flash of excitement lit up Gabriel's eyes as he lunged forward at lightning speed. His sharp claws pierced the rabbit's body instantly; it didn’t even have time to let out a scream before falling silent. 0

Gabriel opened his gaping maw and greedily drank the rabbit's warm blood. The liquid flowed down his throat, bringing him a long-lost sense of power. 0

In his greed, he even savored the soul of the rabbit—once discarded without a second glance—chewing it thoroughly. 0

In this manner, he caught several small animals in succession. With his belly full, he felt his strength returning; the once dull scales on his body regained their luster, and a sense of power began to surge within him. 0

The night passed in silence. 0

As dawn broke, Cuihua was carefully drying herbs in the courtyard. She wore a slightly faded blue cloth dress, with a few strands of hair falling beside her cheeks. Her focused expression made her appear particularly gentle. 0

Hearing footsteps, she looked up and immediately spotted Gabriel. He was moving about now, no longer resembling the sickly figure from before. Cuihua's eyes brightened instantly, and a radiant smile spread across her face. 0

"Wow, look at you! You can walk now! You're recovering so well!" 0

As she spoke, she hurried over to Gabriel’s side, her gaze filled with concern and joy, tinged with surprise. 0

"Seeing you better puts my mind at ease," Cuihua said softly as she gently patted her chest, her tone filled with relief. 0

"Thanks to your herbal soup," Gabriel said with feigned gratitude. 0

Cuihua proudly lifted her head. "Of course! I only selected the best herbs, not even letting my brother use them." 0

"Hehe," Gabriel chuckled in response. 0

"By the way, you haven't had breakfast yet, right? I'll go serve you some." 0

"I'll go with you." 0

Cuihua shyly twisted the hem of her clothing. "Okay." 0

The two stepped outside to get breakfast when suddenly a loud commotion erupted nearby, as if many people were arguing. Cuihua and Gabriel exchanged glances, both seeing confusion in each other's eyes. 0

"What’s going on?" Cuihua furrowed her brow, worry etched on her face. "Could it be that they’re asking us for taxes again? But we've already paid three times this month." 0

Gabriel's curiosity got the better of him. "I'll go take a look," he said, heading toward the source of the noise. 0

"Hey, wait for me! I'm coming too." 0
