Huang Xian held a grudge; today was the day for Kai Yan! 0

Zuo Ci couldn't help but chuckle at this thought. Zhao Xia noticed Zuo Ci laughing and assumed it was just a way to cover up the awkward situation. No one paid much attention to it anymore. 0

That kid, even if he had been cultivating since he was in his mother's womb, could he really ascend to immortality in one step? 0

After everyone entered the main hall, Guan Jintang led Zuo Ci, Zhao Laopozi, and two or three elderly men dressed in Zhongshan Suits with graying hair into a secluded room. 0

Inside the room, talismans were plastered all over the walls. A frail-looking boy lay on a sickbed, a visible mass of black energy hovering above his forehead. 0

"This is a bad omen!" an elderly man exclaimed in shock. 0

"Today, I invited you all here for my son," Guan Boss said. "As you can see, he has been afflicted by some Evil Arts and lies bedridden, growing weaker by the day!" 0

Guan Boss sighed deeply. "I have an eldest daughter who, unfortunately, has been harmed by a demon. Although she can still move, she is no different from a walking corpse. This son of mine is my only child in my old age. If anyone can save him, I will grant any request!" 0

"Any request?" 0

Aside from Zuo Ci, the eyes of the others gleamed with evident greed. 0

What is the purpose of cultivating in the mountains? Isn’t it for this bit of wealth? 0

However, Guan Boss, being the Richest Man in Tongcheng, had a master from Raojiang Leishan residing in his household. That person had quite a reputation. If even he couldn't resolve this issue, it was clear that Guan Boss's request was perilous! 0

Although wealth was tempting, one must first ensure their own safety before pursuing riches. Just as everyone hesitated... 0

An elderly man dressed in a gray Zhongshan Suit, with intricately carved Ram's Horn Earrings adorning his ears, stepped forward boldly. 0

"Since you all are still weighing the pros and cons, let me take the first step to test the waters!" 0

He produced a small drum with a bright red handle from a pouch at his waist. The drum's surface was smooth and delicate, reminiscent of the skin of a young maiden, adorned with complex carvings of Fuzhen. 0

Zuo Ci looked at the small drum with interest, murmuring softly, "The western winds are fading, the willows wither. The beauty has been broken; where can we seek the charm?" 0

This was the A Jie Drum, a magical artifact of the Tibetan Tonzong. The Western Tibetan Tonzong is a highly controversial lineage. They bear the title of living Buddhas while engaging in practices deemed evil. 0

Items such as the A Jie Drum, Human Skin Thangka, and Rou Lian Pusa are all creations of this sect. The A Jie Drum is a traditional instrument used in Tibetan rituals, said to connect life and death and transcend the cycle of reincarnation. 0

The requirements for its creation are exceedingly strict; the Human Skin must be sourced from a girl who has never experienced love. Ideally, she should be mute, as a mute cannot lie, ensuring her soul remains untainted. 0

The Tibetan Tonzong publicly claims that the A Jie Drum is made from the skin of girls who have died naturally before reaching maturity. However, it is known that some Lamas within this tradition will skin young girls alive before they turn eighteen to obtain high-quality A Jie Drums, all in pursuit of ensuring that the girl’s heart remains pure during the crafting process. 0

The Lamas intentionally render them deaf, unable to hear any sounds from the outside world. Furthermore, to ensure that the girls willingly undergo the skinning process for drum-making, they deliberately poison their voices, rendering them mute. 0

When they reach a certain age, the Lamas take the girls from their peasant families to the temple for a unique form of indoctrination. At the same time, they bathe them in specially prepared herbal infusions to ensure their skin remains smooth and delicate. When the time is right, the inhumane drum-making process begins. 0

First, they stuff the girls' mouths with opium, leaving them no room for resistance. Once they are unconscious, it becomes easier to skin them. The girls are then made to kneel, which emphasizes their piety towards the deities. The Lamas then drill small holes into the girls' skulls and slowly inject Mercury through these openings, filling every gap in their skulls and flowing into their blood vessels and intestines, reaching every nerve ending. 0

The girls emit screams of terror, but the Lamas are already desensitized to such sounds. Once Mercury fills every crevice within the girls' bodies, a gentle pull will allow the entire Human Skin to be removed, serving as the primary material for crafting Human Skin Drums. 0

Without their skin, the girls have their skulls cracked open and are attached to the main body of the drum, resembling it from an external perspective. Their leg bones are separated to create drumsticks. The A Jie Drum is merely a facade. Zuo Ci understands this; in reality, these Lamas seek to connect heaven and earth through Human Skin in hopes of attaining immortality! They are just lay disciples of Tibetan Tonzong! 0

Meanwhile, Zhao Laopozi seems to have caught on to what is truly happening. 0

The old man displayed a sense of disdain and contempt for the A Jie Drum in his hands. After taking out the A Jie Drum, he retrieved a white bone mallet from behind him, intricately carved with the design of a Jing Dun Fan. He began to strike the drum while muttering the words of a Cang Qu. 0

The sound of the drum seemed to possess a certain magic. It was not only melodious but also heavy. Dark figures, the Yuan Hun, started to emerge grotesquely from the boy's body. They were both male and female, their faces a ghastly shade of blue-black, revealing expressions of untimely death. They clutched their heads as if the drumbeats tormented them. 0

Guan Jintang watched the spirits clinging to the boy's form, his expression as dark as water. What a formidable technique! The other two old men began to clap in agreement. After all, the Tibetan Tonzong held immense power in the region, with nearly a million followers alone. 0

Zuo Ci shook his head with a smile. What kind of divine A Jie Drum was this? The Lamas of the Tibetan Tonzong had a penchant for using human skin to make drums, particularly those Lamas with Dao Xing who favored using the skin of living people. It was said that such drums could connect one to Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and celestial beings. They claimed that when one shook the Human Skin Drum, the Bodhisattvas would descend. 0

In reality, it was merely Karma manifesting—spirits of those who had been dismembered and flayed lingered in the Gui Dao. When a Lama shook the Human Skin Drum, entities like Yuan Chou Zhai Zhu and Bloodsucking Demon God would appear. 0

A sinister black mist surged forth from the old man's Human Skin Drum, revealing a spirit with sharp fangs and disheveled hair. 0
