Yao Niansi always believed that she was a reasonable and understanding boss.
So, when she watched Yun Sheng clumsily break the fifty-eighth plate right in front of her, she suppressed her inner fury, took a deep breath, and repeatedly told herself to stay calm and maintain her composure.
“Damn it, Yun Sheng! Have you been kicked in the head by a donkey? Do you dare to break another plate in front of me?”
However, her patience ultimately reached its limit, and she erupted in anger.
As if to prove her right, Yun Sheng indeed dared to do so.
Just as her words fell, accompanied by the crisp sound of shattering porcelain, the fifty-ninth plate also met its “heroic end.”
At this point, Yao Niansi was completely consumed by rage. Her eyes widened, her face flushed red like an angry lioness, wishing she could swallow Yun Sheng whole right then and there.
She wanted to grab Yun Sheng by the ears and give him a good lesson, but unfortunately, the height difference between them was too great. She could only tiptoe desperately, stretching her arms as far as they would go, straining hard just to reach him.
Yun Sheng looked like a guilty puppy, blinking his big eyes with long lashes fluttering innocently. His expression was filled with innocence and grievance.
He slightly bent down to match Yao Niansi's movements. His handsome face, usually so radiant, now bore a hint of red from embarrassment, making it hard for anyone to continue scolding him.
“Can you be any more clumsy? If I leave someday, will you be too foolish to feed yourself?” Yao Niansi stomped her foot in frustration, her face filled with exasperation as she questioned him loudly.
Yun Sheng bit his lip and lowered his head slightly like a child caught misbehaving. In a soft and aggrieved voice, he replied, “Wherever you go, I will follow you.”
"You!" Yao Niansi was momentarily speechless, her anger boiling inside her. Just as she was about to explode again, a sudden voice extinguished her fiery rage in an instant.
"Boss, it's bad! The third competition event has been announced!" A young man rushed in, panting heavily as he spoke.
"What is it?" Yao Niansi furrowed her brows, suppressing her anger as she asked eagerly.
"The manor said... they said..." The young man took a breath to steady himself before continuing, "The next event is to see which of the young ladies can find a son-in-law to marry into the family first."
"Is that old fool tired of living? He always comes up with these ridiculous challenges!" Upon hearing this, Yao Niansi's fury erupted. Unable to contain herself, she crushed a plate in her bare hands, shards cutting into her palm as blood began to flow, yet she remained oblivious to the pain.
The young man turned pale at Yao Niansi's fierce demeanor, his body trembling slightly. After a long hesitation, he timidly added, "Also, the master said it must be a widower who already has children..."
"What is a widower?" A small voice interjected from the side.
Only then did the young man notice Yun Sheng standing nearby and instinctively replied, "Just like you."
Indeed, when Yao Niansi had found the unconscious Yun Sheng at the inn's entrance, he had been tightly holding a newborn baby girl in his arms. Even after he awoke and claimed he remembered nothing, everyone naturally assumed that the baby was his daughter.
Yao Niansi glared at the young man with a dark expression and snapped, "Why are you saying unnecessary things..." She trailed off suddenly as if struck by a thought, then abruptly shut her mouth and yanked Yun Sheng along as she headed for the door.
The young man, fearing that his boss might do something rash in her anger, quickly asked, "Where are you going, boss?"
Without looking back, Yao Niansi strode forward and tossed over her shoulder, "Taking the son-in-law to see that old fool!"
