Xing Ming stood still, his heart pounding like a drum, the warmth of Ling Xue still lingering on his face. He watched as Ling Xue disappeared into the night, a sense of unprecedented satisfaction swelling within him. Although she had fled the scene, the fluttering in her heart lingered, refusing to settle.
She knew that this game had lost its competition; only two hearts remained, unknowingly drawing closer together. Xing Ming gazed at her gradually vanishing silhouette, a flicker of anticipation igniting within him, longing for their next encounter. Ling Xue, turning the corner, stole a glance back at Xing Ming's infatuated expression, a sweet sensation blooming in her heart.
At that moment, although Ling Xue had declined Xing Ming's invitation to the hotel, she realized she wouldn't feel awkward going out. She glanced at her phone and noted her pitiful balance. Hastily, she summoned the system, only to find that there were no rewards available to earn money. "If it weren't for this mission, I might have ended up sleeping on the streets," she thought.
"Host Master," the system replied, "at this stage, you cannot accept new missions until you complete or abandon the previous one. Additionally, Skill Points can be converted into currency, but you must transform into a female to withdraw them. The exchange rate is ten thousand to one, and currency will be issued in the form of silver cards. Currently, you have not activated this ability and therefore do not possess any silver cards. "Can I still contact Xing Ming after blacklisting him?" she asked.
"After blacklisting him and before submitting your mission, you cannot re-establish contact. However, once submitted, you can use a new method to continue communication with the mission target."
Ling Xue felt a glimmer of hope upon hearing this; she couldn't understand why her feelings for Xing Ming had become so complicated. To prepare for her upcoming mission, she first texted her roommates to inform them that there were issues at home and requested a week off. Then she decisively took out another phone to blacklist Xing Ming's contact information.
Sitting on the edge of her dorm bed, Ling Xue tightly gripped the phone with Xing Ming's number that she had just blacklisted. Her emotions were like a roller coaster ride. She knew this was merely part of the mission, yet her heart was in turmoil. Moonlight streamed through the window and cast a lonely silhouette around her.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm her restless heart. Determined to resolve her immediate predicament first, she opened her phone and began searching for nearby hotels in hopes of finding a place to spend the night. After some searching, she found a hotel that seemed acceptable.
She dialed the hotel's number to inquire about prices and room availability. Although it wasn't cheap, she decided to book a room for one night; at least she wouldn't have to sleep on the streets tonight. She reassured herself that this was only temporary and that she would find a solution by tomorrow.
Ling Yu's parents were abroad and often took a long time to reply to messages. His monthly allowance was set at a specific amount by his parents and was transferred into his account punctually each month. Originally sufficient for his daily expenses, recent unexpected costs had arisen. Today was the day when these extra expenses would prevent him from maintaining his allowance for next month.
If he could break free from his female disguise soon enough, he estimated he could still earn more rewards within a day by winning over Xing Ming before the final deadline of their mission arrived in several days. He believed he could charm several others as well and maximize his benefits; he needed to make good use of the system's resources.
After completing the check-in process at the hotel, Ling Xue stepped into her room and collapsed onto the bed in exhaustion. She closed her eyes but found her thoughts drifting back to Xing Ming. The conflicting emotions of anticipation and uncertainty made her realize that this relationship was far more complex than just a game.
The next day, she resolved to devise a plan that would address both her financial issues and maintain contact with Xing Ming. At that moment, Ling Xue was unaware that she was beginning to make plans for a man. The system's restrictions prompted her to think creatively about how to cleverly utilize the rules and pave her way for the future. Ling Xue opened her eyes as dawn broke; determinedly, she decided to head to the mall for an appropriate outfit change.
