After Wu Yunyun came to a realization, her attitude towards Gu Si Yi became more enthusiastic.
On clear nights, she would share the sight of the starry sky with him. During their conversations, she would recount every little detail from their class, whether it was about someone dyeing their hair or getting punished by a teacher, even down to the flavors of bread available at the school store.
When she interacted with him, she no longer appeared listless; instead, she smiled brightly, her eyes sparkling with excitement. Soon, everyone at school knew that Wu Yunyun was quite attached to Gu Si Yi, completely under his influence. Even Gu Si Yi's close friends teased him, saying he had enough charm to win over such an innocent junior.
Every time this happened, Gu Si Yi would just smile. He knew that sooner or later, she would fall for him; he just hadn’t expected it to happen so quickly.
One day after school, Wu Yunyun excitedly approached Gu Si Yi with a novel in her hands. "Gu Si Yi, this is a book I’ve been reading lately. Take a look!" She placed the novel in front of him.
He glanced down at the words and scoffed lightly. "These novels are just meant to fool girls like you."
However, he had to admit that the male lead was quite charming. Ji Qingqing had become a university professor and treated the female lead exceptionally well; she could rely on him no matter what troubles she faced. "But it’s unrealistic," he remarked.
"What about you, Gu Si Yi? What do you want to do when you grow up?"
"I'll just join the Gu family business."
Gu Si Yi rarely thought about such questions; it wasn’t really his place to ponder them. He knew his family would make arrangements for him.
"And you? What career do you want to pursue when you grow up?"
"I haven’t figured it out yet, but I hope I can earn enough to support myself. Of course, if I could make a bit more, that would be even better."
"A little money-minded, are we?"
As they walked together, the sunset began to change colors—vibrant reds filled the sky as the sun dipped lower, leaving only a small sliver visible.
Wu Yunyun pointed at the sky and said to Gu Si Yi, "Look, Gu Si Yi! The sunset is beautiful today."
"It really is," Gu Si Yi replied, crossing his arms. "Why don’t we take a moment to enjoy it before heading home?"
Wu Yunyun remained still, watching the sunset for a while, her hand gently hooking around his. Gu Si Yi looked down and saw her small hand intertwined with his, turning to meet her gaze. He couldn't quite pinpoint when she stopped being just "Miss" to him and became Wu Yunyun. There was no longer any barrier between them.
"Wu Yunyun, what do you like about me?" Gu Si Yi suddenly asked, turning his head to pose the question.
Wu Yunyun's heart skipped a beat. She lifted her head, her expression flustered. After a moment, she swallowed hard and said, "You... you look good."
Gu Si Yi smiled. "Is that all?" he asked, feeling a flicker of anticipation within himself. Although he couldn't articulate what he was hoping for, he felt it nonetheless.
Wu Yunyun gazed at him, hesitant to reveal her deeper feelings. Initially, her affection for him had been simple; she liked his appearance. However, after he had confessed his feelings and done those things for her, that was when she truly fell in love with him. With him, she found a sense of cherished affection.
Unbeknownst to him, when he helped her with her studies, he was incredibly patient, his eyes always filled with warmth. He didn't realize how charming he appeared as he listened intently to her chatter on their way home.
In truth, he was her ideal type; his demeanor was always gentle, and in all the time they had known each other, she had never seen him lose his temper.
"What about you? Why did you choose me as your girlfriend?" Wu Yunyun couldn't find the words and decided to change the subject.
