Gu Si Yi held the room card and entered the designated room. He paused at the door, gazing at Wu Yunyun curled up on the sofa, a small figure that slowly softened his once hardened heart.
He cautiously stepped forward, careful not to wake her, and eventually settled down in a corner of the sofa. At that moment, the distance between them was less than an inch. He lowered his head, greedily fixating on her face, and remained there for half an hour.
It wasn't until his phone vibrated that he seemed to snap back to reality. He quickly pulled it out, not even glancing at the caller ID before shutting it off.
Hearing the noise, Wu Yunyun stirred slightly, feeling something pressing against her head. She reached out to push it away but found it futile. Blinking her eyes open groggily, she was met with a pair of familiar eyes. Yet, the gaze was unfamiliar—too gentle for her liking.
Wu Yunyun looked at the figure before her and tentatively spoke, "Gu Si Yi, is that you?"
"Yes, it's me."
Wu Yunyun gradually closed her eyes again. "You shouldn’t appear anymore. We’re not on the same path."
"Why not? Do I have three eyes?"
That was an exaggeration; she didn’t know how to explain herself. It seemed there was no other reason besides that one.
"Wu Yunyun, do you still want me?"
The question sent ripples through her heart, but she didn’t want to entangle herself with him any longer. To her, Gu Si Yi felt like a Barbie doll she had longed for as a child—no matter how much she desired it, it would never belong to her.
She shook her head again. "From now on, don’t come to entangle me anymore. We both need to look forward."
With that, she opened her eyes to see his reaction.
Gu Si Yi's expression instantly turned cold. Wu Yunyun stared at him in confusion; it felt as if he were the one being abandoned. However, she quickly realized this was just a dream—his reaction was merely fulfilling her own imagination.
Gu Si Yi stood up without saying a word and left the private room. It dawned on him that she had long since moved on; he was the one stuck in the past.
Wu Yunyun met Gu Si Yi, a bittersweet smile curling at the corners of her lips. That night, she had a dream, but in that dream, only regret remained.
The next day, Yu Chan complained to Wu Yunyun about Zhou Liaosheng being a big deceiver. What was supposed to be a supporting role turned out to be just a minor part during the actual audition. Wu Yunyun comforted her, saying, "This is just a test from heaven. Xiao Chan, I believe you will make it. I'm still waiting for your signed photo!"
"Why do you believe in me so much?" Yu Chan asked, touched. Sometimes, she didn't even believe in herself.
"I genuinely believe in you, Xiao Chan. At your age, most people don’t know what they want, but you can clearly articulate that you want to be an actress. That means you have plenty of time to make mistakes and accept the challenges life throws at you. Overall, I have faith in you as a person."
"Thank you for saying that. I will work hard," Yu Chan replied with determination.
Wu Yunyun nodded. "Then I'll be waiting for your good news. When that time comes, you'll have to support me!"
"Sure thing, Wu Yunyun! Just wait for me here!"
They both laughed for a moment, but then Wu Yunyun suddenly remembered something from the previous day. "Xiao Chan, did any boys come into our booth yesterday?"
"No, besides my cousin who came in once, there was no one else. Why do you ask, Wu Yunyun?"
"Nothing much; it seems it really was just a dream."
Yu Chan seemed to understand what Wu Yunyun was hinting at and chose not to press further.
Wu Yunyun thought to herself that she needed to leave Teikyo as soon as possible. From now on, if she could avoid coming back, she would.
