Wu Yunyun lowered her head slightly again.
"Are you two in the bridal chamber?"
Before Wu Yunyun could respond, Zhou Liao Yi spoke earnestly, "Sister, don't tease your brother!"
"You're being so mysterious," Yu Chan muttered, no longer paying him any mind.
As the two continued their conversation, Zhou Liao dared to sneak a glance at Wu Yunyun through the rearview mirror. Ever since that incident in high school, Zhou Liao had become friends with Gu Si Yi. Two years ago, when his company faced a financial crisis, it was Gu Si Yi who lent a helping hand. Zhou Liao never expected that small favor would turn into five hundred thousand in cash. To him, Wu Yunyun was his lucky star.
Lost in thought, his phone buzzed with a message—a dating show invitation titled "Cupid's Arrow Struck Love." He had received the invitation two months prior and initially intended for Yu Chan to go since she often expressed a desire to date. However, when he showed her the male contestants, she wasn't satisfied at all. The matter was left unresolved.
Now, as the show was halfway through filming, one of the female contestants had to withdraw for personal reasons, prompting the production team to select another female participant. Zhou Liao's gaze towards Wu Yunyun gradually became bolder.
The group arrived at a hotpot restaurant with a distinctly Hong Kong style. They were led by the staff to a highly private booth furnished with burgundy leather chairs and an immaculate carpet that exuded luxury.
Once seated, Yu Chan began to inquire about Wu Yunyun's love life. "Have you been in touch with that Jing Shaoqiu recently?"
Wu Yunyun shook her head. "Not anymore."
"That's for the best! He said he wanted to pursue you, but I could tell from his face that he wasn't a good person."
"Yeah, I never really thought much of him either."
"Wu Yunyun," Yu Chan continued, "now that you're single, should I send you the contact information of some handsome guys I know?" She began rummaging through her phone as she spoke.
Hearing this, Zhou Liao put down his chopsticks. "Xiao Chan, it’s not that complicated; there’s someone right here!"
"Can you not make things more difficult for me?" Zhou Liao took a deep breath and showed Yu Chan the dating show invitation. "Isn't this just perfect?"
Yu Chan looked down, lost in thought for a long time, and finally slapped the table. "I think we can do it!"
As a result, Wu Yunyun was persuaded by the two of them in turns, and ultimately, it was the appearance fee that swayed her. If she could earn a bit more, wouldn’t her mother have an easier time in the future?
During a break in their meal, Zhou Liao directly addressed Wu Yunyun. "Wu Yunyun, our intention in having you participate in this variety show is not to belittle your current job. Everyone has different pursuits. I can see that you seem quite at peace with your situation, which is something many restless people lack."
"Thank you, Cousin. To be honest, I was the one who struggled to accept this job at first. I couldn't take off Kong Yiji's long gown; I always felt that after studying for a few more years, I should at least be able to find a stable job after graduation. But reality is often different."
"It's alright, Wu Yunyun. The past few years were probably just your period of bad luck. Once you get through this phase, everything will be fine! And from now on, you'll be at Teikyo; we can look out for each other if anything comes up." Yu Chan said as she held her hand.
Wu Yunyun nodded earnestly. How fortunate she was to meet these people who were willing to lend her a hand during her difficult times.
