That evening, Wu Yunyun ran into Gu Si Yi in the courtyard. She greeted him briefly before attempting to leave. However, Gu Si Yi called out to her directly, "Have you thought it over?"
Wu Yunyun took a small step back, "Young Master, I'm afraid I can't go." At that moment, she lowered her head. Having eaten too much at dinner, she felt uncomfortable in her stomach and had to lift her head slightly.
To her surprise, in just a short while, he had changed into a light gray wool coat paired with suit pants and polished leather shoes. It was nearly ten o'clock—why was he dressed so formally? Was he going on another blind date tonight?
Wu Yunyun quickly shook off her thoughts and said, "Um, Young Master, if there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now. When does your event end?"
She recalled Zhou Liaosheng mentioning it would probably last about a month. "Are you starting tomorrow?"
This caught Wu Yunyun off guard; it wasn't that urgent—Zhou Liaosheng still needed to communicate with the production team.
Seeing her silent, Gu Si Yi stepped closer and asked, "Are you avoiding me because we used to be in a relationship?"
Wu Yunyun panicked and lowered her head even more. "I’m not."
"That's good," Gu Si Yi replied, noticing her bowed head and furrowed brow. "But why do I feel like you're scared of me?"
Sweat broke out on Wu Yunyun's forehead as she struggled to find an excuse. After a long pause, she finally said, "I'm just not good at interacting with boys; it's my problem. You don't need to worry about it."
"Since that's the case," Gu Si Yi said, "you should come over tomorrow. Once you've settled things, I'll give you some time off."
Wu Yunyun was about to refuse when Gu Si Yi added, "Since you’re not good at interacting with boys, I'll show some kindness and let you spend more time with me to help you get used to it."
With that, he walked away.
Once he was out of earshot, Wu Yunyun finally relaxed. In the living room, Lin Xiaoying had overheard their conversation.
Lin Xiaoying rushed over and noticed Wu Yunyun's sweaty face. She took out a handkerchief and wiped her forehead. Once she finished cleaning up, she said apologetically, "I'm sorry, Wu Yunyun. I started the topic but ended up dragging you into it. Young Master seems easygoing on the surface, but I always feel he has a deep side—be careful around him."
Wu Yunyun felt distressed; since childhood, she had prided herself on being discreet with her words. She never expected that talking behind someone's back would lead to trouble.
But when did Gu Si Yi become so vengeful? Or had he always been this way?
The next morning, Gu Si Yi sent her a message on her phone. When Wu Yunyun saw the notification pop up in her WeChat chat window, she suddenly felt a wave of disorientation. She hadn’t expected to chat with him again, and fearing that he might discover their previous conversation, she quickly copied his morning message to the file transfer assistant and deleted their chat history.
After deleting it, she felt a sense of relief. She put on her maid uniform and headed to Gu Si Yi's residence. According to Lin Xiaoying and the others, Gu Si Yi had a place outside and didn’t come to the Gu Family home very often.
Wu Yunyun hoped that he wouldn’t show up in the following days. However, her hopes were dashed when, that very evening, he called for her once more.
