That evening, Wu Yunyun took the initiative to mention a variety show. Yu Chan asked her why she was in such a hurry, considering she had previously resisted the idea.
"Don't even mention it," Wu Yunyun said over the phone as she plopped down on the sofa. "My mom thinks there's something going on between me and Gu Si Yi. To ease her worries, I figured I should quickly join a dating show."
"Wait, how could your mom think that?"
Wu Yunyun then shared the recent developments with her. After listening, Yu Chan fell silent for a moment before quietly asking, "Wu Yunyun, do you think Gu Si Yi still has feelings for you?"
"Come on, it's broad daylight! Can we not talk about ghost stories?" Wu Yunyun replied, exasperated. "I was the one who got dumped back then!"
"Okay, okay, my bad," Yu Chan said, not wanting to dwell on the topic for too long. She shifted the conversation back to Wu Yunyun's upcoming appearance on the show. "Listen, you joining this variety show is going to be dramatic! The situation is that three guys like one girl, and three girls like one guy. But these couples keep throwing curveballs at each other to test their feelings. The online community is furious and saying they should just all disappear!"
Wu Yunyun laughed at her words. "Is it really that dramatic?"
Yu Chan nodded vigorously. "There are only six people total! Only one guy and one girl are actually into each other. Isn’t that enough drama?"
Wu Yunyun had watched a few episodes herself and said, "From what I've seen, I actually think Song Mi'er and Kong Run make a good couple; they seem to have a couple-like vibe."
"They both see each other as backups, so I doubt anything good will come of it. After all, their approaches are pretty shallow."
"I think the guy pays attention to details and the girl has high emotional intelligence; they get along well," Wu Yunyun countered. "Unlike Yi Yi and Mi Zhong, who are just pretty faces without much substance."
"I think handsome guys and beautiful girls have great chemistry," Yu Chan added. "They look good together."
"You have a point, but I just can't get into it; maybe I'm just different? Hahaha! But I believe the production team will definitely find a way to pair someone up. When you go on the show, don’t forget to spill some tea for me!"
"Got it!"
After hanging up the phone, Wu Yunyun lay back on the sofa, thinking that if she really went on the variety show, perhaps she could gain some exposure and move on from her past with Gu Si Yi.
On the day she received notice about the show, Wu Yunyun went to ask Gu Si Yi for leave, only mentioning it was for personal reasons.
Unable to suppress his curiosity, Gu Si Yi asked, "Is it something you can share?"
After saying this, he covered his mouth with his hand to hide his awkwardness. "I was just asking casually to see if there's anything I can help with. If there is, I'd be happy to."
Before Gu Si Yi could finish speaking, he was interrupted by Wu Yunyun. "Sorry, my bad, Young Master."
"Alright, starting tomorrow, you can focus on your own matters," Gu Si Yi replied, his smile fading as he looked at her with gentle eyes.
"Okay." Wu Yunyun agreed and then took her leave, as if she were escaping from some impending disaster.
Gu Si Yi watched her retreating figure. Over the past few days, he had absorbed some of the conversations regarding their relationship. He wanted to wait for her to bring it up, but she seemed unaffected, going about her daily routine with Big Hug coming and going.
He didn’t even get a chance to use those moments to his advantage.
Once Wu Yunyun finally disappeared from his sight, he turned his gaze back to the mini bear on the sofa, lost in thought.
There was a time when he was drunk and Zhou Liao asked him what was so special about Wu Yunyun that made him so infatuated with her.
He had replied that it was only when he was with her that he felt truly alive.
That feeling of wanting to love the whole world because of her was something extraordinary.
It was through all this that he truly realized how different his world was with her compared to without her.
