Wu Yunyun tossed the clothes to him and stiffly said thank you. She attempted to stand up but stumbled slightly due to her legs being numb from sitting too long.
Gu Si Yi quickly supported her arm, saying, "Be careful."
After a moment, Wu Yunyun moved her arm away and replied, "You don’t need to worry about me."
Hearing this, Gu Si Yi felt a pulse of irritation at his temples, but he restrained himself. First, in this show, don’t call me ‘Young Master’; second, we’ve known each other for over ten years, so we have a good relationship. I can’t just leave you be.
"Alright, Teacher Gu," Wu Yunyun said, not understanding his thought process. They had been broken up for quite some time and hadn’t kept in touch; it couldn’t be considered a close relationship, could it?
But then again, he was still her superior.
"Let’s go together," she suggested.
"Okay." Wu Yunyun grabbed her backpack and followed him off the vehicle. She glanced around at the surrounding buildings; they indeed had a nostalgic feel.
"Where are the crew members?" Wu Yunyun asked.
"They went ahead to shoot some other material," he replied.
Wu Yunyun nodded. Perhaps among all these people, she and Gu Si Yi were the least camera-friendly. She had come on this show largely to avoid him; what about him? What was his reason?
As the thought crossed her mind, Wu Yunyun could no longer hold back. After hesitating for a long time, she finally asked, "Teacher Gu, why did you come on this show?"
Gu Si Yi frowned. He had known since middle school that she wasn’t good at hiding things, but he didn’t expect her to catch on so quickly. Did he want to pursue her? That would probably scare her away. The story of the boy who cried wolf would turn into a ghost story if heard again.
"I’m just trying my luck. You know my family has been worried about me lately," he said.
Wu Yunyun nodded. "Among the current female guests, which one do you admire the most?"
After she asked, she felt a thin layer of sweat forming on her palms.
Gu Si Yi looked at her for a moment before finally responding, "I’ve only just arrived."
"That’s true," Wu Yunyun said with an awkward smile. "So…"
"They’ve probably already paired up by now. It wouldn’t be appropriate for me to go over there." Gu Si Yi interrupted her thoughts and continued, "Next, I’d like to invite you to join me. Is that okay?"
He spoke so earnestly that Wu Yunyun felt it would be inappropriate to refuse again, so she nodded in agreement.
As they walked through the ancient alley, stepping on the cobblestone path, they admired the various snacks lining both sides.
"Shall we have some tea?" Gu Si Yi asked, pointing to a sign that read "Liu Nai Nai's Specialty Freshly Squeezed Tea."
"Yes, let's," Wu Yunyun replied as she approached the stall and ordered a cup of Passionfruit Lemon Tea. Gu Si Yi ordered the same and they paid together.
Wu Yunyun inserted a straw into her drink and took a sip; it tasted quite good. Gu Si Yi tried a sip as well, finding the flavor to be sour, but at least he had learned about her taste preferences.
Due to Gu Si Yi's striking appearance, Wu Yunyun noticed several girls glancing their way, some even discreetly taking pictures of him with their phones.
Indeed, he had such an advantage—what kind of woman wouldn’t be attracted to him?
Lost in thought, Gu Si Yi asked her, "Wu Yunyun, how have you been?"
"Pretty ordinary," she summarized. Since leaving Teikyo, she found it easy to adapt.
"Is Yun Cheng fun?"
"Yun Cheng? It's quite famous for Fairy Tale Town. Being a small city, there's not much excitement. But the environment is very different from Teikyo; there, you almost have to carry an umbrella every day."
"What about the food there?"
"The food is a bit spicy; even stir-fried dishes usually have some chili in them. However, it's not overwhelmingly hot," Wu Yunyun explained, swallowing hard.
In Yun Cheng, she had enjoyed many meals of Spicy Hot Pot—affordable and satisfying—while in Teikyo, the prices for Spicy Hot Pot were exorbitant. As she spoke, her tea was half-finished, and Gu Si Yi felt his mouth watering from the sourness.
Following the principle of reciprocity, Wu Yunyun asked him about his experiences abroad.
Gu Si Yi mentioned studying in England and joked about how bad the food was there.
Their brief conversation left no trace of nostalgia in his tone.
"Don't you have any romantic relationships while abroad?" This was different from what she had imagined about him.
