Gu Si Yi looked at her, hesitating to answer the question.
"What's wrong? Do I have something on my face?" Wu Yunyun felt uneasy and touched her face with her hand.
"No, but do you really hope that I get a girlfriend?"
Wu Yunyun was taken aback by the question but nodded. "Well, yes. After all, you're exceptional; having a girlfriend would be normal."
"Ah, so that's how you feel. But relationships depend on fate, and mine has been quite poor," he emphasized the last two words.
"You'll find someone," Wu Yunyun offered weakly.
"What about you?" Gu Si Yi asked.
Wu Yunyun felt that although she was single, it would be too deliberate to discuss it in front of him. She changed her approach, thinking about someone she liked but dared not tell him.
After hearing this, Gu Si Yi's fists tightened slightly. What kind of person was she interested in?
Wu Yunyun bit her straw and quickly finished the remaining fruit tea. "He's very mysterious. Even after knowing him for so long, I still can't see through him. But maybe once I figure him out, I won't like him anymore."
Gu Si Yi didn't know what to say next and didn't want to ask further. He feared that if he continued, he might end up confronting that man.
But it was okay; thankfully, she was a reserved person. A crush was nothing; as long as he truly had her, he was confident he could drive away whoever held her heart.
Wu Yunyun received a call from the production team, telling them it was time to return for dinner.
"Come on, let's go back and eat," she said to Gu Si Yi. She thought that with others around, it shouldn't be so awkward anymore.
Earlier, her attention had been entirely on him; she hadn't even noticed the shops around them.
Following the location sent by the production team, they arrived at a guesthouse where they could taste local specialties.
As soon as they entered the courtyard, Zhuang Yi Yi rushed over and handed some chestnuts to Gu Si Yi. "Gu Si Yi, do you like chestnuts? I just packed some."
Seeing this, Wu Yunyun quickly walked inside.
She first placed her backpack in the bedroom marked with her and Meng Yue's names before returning and finding a corner sofa to sit and play on her phone.
Meng Yue had somehow sat down beside her. She picked up a nearby magazine but found herself unable to read a single word after staring at it for a while.
Finally, she put down her phone and greeted Wu Yunyun, chatting enthusiastically, "What a coincidence that we’re sharing a room tonight!"
"Such a coincidence," Wu Yunyun smiled back at her, continuing to browse through posts online.
Seeing that she wasn't in the mood for conversation, Meng Yue leaned in closer, "So, where did you and Teacher Gu go to play this morning?"
Wu Yunyun turned off her phone and looked at her. In that moment, Meng Yue understood that the person in front of her also had feelings for Gu Si Yi.
"We just went to the pedestrian street nearby. But we didn't stay long; I was called back pretty quickly."
"How long have you known Teacher Gu?"
"Quite a while," Wu Yunyun replied, then noticing the serious expression on Meng Yue's face, she added, "But I'm not really close to him."
"I see," Meng Yue's expression softened. "I came to this variety show hoping to find someone I like. Before, I thought Mi Zhong was pretty good, but now that Teacher Gu is here, I'm feeling a bit conflicted."
For her, she wanted both but realized that Mi Zhong didn't seem interested in her. She wondered if Gu Si Yi would be easier to pursue.
After all, if one door doesn’t open, another one might.
"You should go for it," Meng Yue encouraged.
"What about you? Who do you feel best about right now?"
"Kong Run," she said. "He has a good emotional intelligence, but he doesn’t seem to have any feelings for me."
Hearing that Wu Yunyun wasn’t particularly invested in Gu Si Yi made Meng Yue warm up to her more. Love can be complicated; it’s normal to love one while another loves someone else. Even if you find someone you like, it doesn’t always work out. But the most important thing is to have a clear conscience.
Wu Yunyun nodded in agreement with her words.
"The probability of true love is probably as rare as Mars colliding with Earth."
So even if she didn’t encounter it later on, it wouldn’t be such a big deal.
