After chatting for a while, Wu Yunyun noticed that Tian Mengyue was particularly talkative. Since finishing university, Wu Yunyun had lost the initiative to make friends, and she found herself listening more than engaging in the conversation. Eventually, she felt unsure about how to respond.
It wasn't until Mi Zhong came over and called them to eat that the topic finally ended. When they sat down, Gu Si Yi wanted to sit next to Wu Yunyun, but both sides quickly filled up with people. Thus, he chose a seat directly across from her.
Soon, a variety of local dishes were served: garlic ribs with small potatoes, Hong City braised pork, dry-fried duck legs, radish beef soup, and golden oil-braised prawns that looked incredibly appetizing. Wu Yunyun lowered her head and focused on her food, completely uninterested in what the others were saying around her.
Mi Zhong glanced at Wu Yunyun beside him. Since she arrived, she had been the least noticeable person at the table. He had expected her to be like other women who would be enamored by his appearance, but every time she saw him, she simply greeted him and then ignored him. Moreover, ever since Gu Si Yi showed up, other women had become less enthusiastic towards him. This sudden change left him feeling disgusted; only Wu Yunyun remained unchanged.
After pondering for a moment, he picked up a glove from the table, peeled a prawn, and placed it in Wu Yunyun's bowl. "Try this; it tastes pretty good."
Wu Yunyun turned her head in shock but quickly suppressed her surprise. "Thank you," she said as she picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of the prawn, only to find it tasted bland.
Seeing this, Mi Zhong laughed. He knew that Wu Yunyun was a gentle person who wouldn’t embarrass him in front of others.
"Don't peel them for me anymore; I can eat by myself," Wu Yunyun whispered as she leaned closer to Mi Zhong.
"Okay," Mi Zhong replied with an even brighter smile.
Wu Yunyun didn’t understand his intentions and found it all rather puzzling.
From then on, Mi Zhong seemed to open up like a floodgate, chatting incessantly with Wu Yunyun. Although she only absorbed about half of what he said, she began to get a sense of his personality and preferences. He loved adventurous activities and was an athletic guy with decent looks—completely not her type.
At that moment, however, she felt comfortable being around him without having to worry about anything else. After the meal ended, Mi Zhong even invited her to take a walk outside the courtyard.
Feeling that she had eaten too much, Wu Yunyun agreed.
Gu Si Yi remained cold throughout the meal and barely touched his food. Beside him, Zhuang Yi Yi tried to engage him in conversation at first but soon fell silent under his icy demeanor.
Meng Yue observed the scene for a while and noticed that her expression became tense as well; she couldn't believe that Wu Yunyun was completely oblivious to Gu Si Yi's feelings.
Could she be deceiving her? Was she just trying to see her make a fool of herself?
With that thought, Meng Yue's face burned like fire.
Wu Yunyun had been out with Mi Zhong for an hour. The scenery outside the ancient town was quite nice, and the sky was filled with stars. She sat side by side with Mi Zhong on a white bench.
"Don't you think we actually make a good match?" Mi Zhong asked.
Wu Yunyun was taken aback. "Where do we match?"
"Our personalities complement each other well. You're more introverted, while I'm more extroverted. Plus, we don't have feelings for each other right now, but who knows? Maybe over time, things could change."
"What kind of nonsense is that?"
"I'm not one for bad habits, I respect women, and I handle household chores beautifully. Plus, my cooking isn't too bad either. Don't you think those are good qualities?"
Wu Yunyun nodded, agreeing that they were good qualities, but added, "I just can't verify the truth of what you're saying."
"How about we give it a try? If it doesn't work out, we can just part ways amicably. No one loses anything."
