Wu Yunyun lay on her bed, replaying the scene in her mind where Gu Si Yi had pinched her lips. She felt a thought becoming increasingly clear. But was it possible? After all this time, did he still have feelings for her? This might just be one of his pranks, but this time, she wouldn’t fall for it easily.
The next morning, A Yang came over and knocked on her door, informing Wu Yunyun that she could withdraw from the show. Several times she opened her mouth to say something, but in the end, she said nothing, merely giving A Yang a deep look before walking away. A Yang hadn’t expected that Gu Si Yi would rather pay the penalty for breaking the contract than continue with the show. The amount was not small. It was a pity, though; they wouldn’t get to witness Gu Si Yi pursuing someone himself. If it had been recorded, it would surely have been similar to what Zhou Liaosheng had said and would have made the show a huge hit. After all, a finance major graduate and a big shot in the investment banking world chasing after a Cinderella was quite a rare theme in reality.
After closing the door, Wu Yunyun received a call from Gu Si Yi: "Can we buy tickets for this afternoon's flight back?" Wu Yunyun wanted to refuse, but the words caught in her throat; after all, he had just helped her out immensely. "Sure, I’ll pack up and find you shortly so we can discuss buying the tickets."
Wu Yunyun’s calmness exceeded Gu Si Yi’s expectations; he thought she would ask him a few questions. "Don’t overthink it; with me around, no one can make things difficult for you." After hearing this, Wu Yunyun tightened her grip on her phone, controlling her racing heart as she softly replied.
Ultimately, Wu Yunyun returned to her place to pack her bags. Meng Yue had heard from know that she was withdrawing from the show and confronted her without any pretense: "So you’ve hooked up with a rich guy and aren’t even taking the penalty for breaking the contract." Wu Yunyun ignored her and grabbed her backpack. Meng Yue stood directly in front of her, blocking her way with an outstretched arm: "Wu Yunyun, it must feel great to toy with others. Yesterday, I looked like a clown in front of you while I talked so much, and yet you were secretly getting together with Gu Si Yi!"
She became increasingly furious, wishing she could tear Wu Yunyun apart.
"I have nothing to do with Gu Si Yi, whether you believe it or not." Wu Yunyun pushed aside the hand that blocked her path.
"Stop right there! I absolutely hate being played with!" Meng Yue exclaimed. "Wu Yunyun, are you serious? Gu Si Yi has nothing to do with you? Who would believe that? If there’s really nothing between you, then why did you both withdraw from the show together? Besides, you had to sign a contract before the show started, right? You withdrew early, do you know you have to pay for that?"
When Wu Yunyun realized that this matter wouldn’t be resolved easily, she knew she had to clarify things.
"You seem so calm now; someone must have already compensated for your fees. Let me guess, who could that person be?" Meng Yue stared at her intently, eager to see how long this person could keep up the facade.
"This is mine; it has nothing to do with you." Wu Yunyun's face turned red with anger. Her mind was in disarray, and she couldn’t think of any other words to retort.
"Hmph, just get lost! If I stay here any longer, I might throw up!" Meng Yue said before opening the door and leaving first.
Wu Yunyun was so angry that her stomach hurt; she clutched her body and squatted down.
The door had been slightly ajar, and their commotion had caught the attention of others. One of the camera crew members was the first to notice something was off with Wu Yunyun and shouted, "Sister Wu Yunyun, are you okay?"
Gu Si Yi was waiting in the living room on the first floor. Hearing that something was wrong with Wu Yunyun, he quickly rushed to her bedroom.
