Wu Yunyun recalled the unusual behavior of Gu Si Yi over the past few days, feeling anxious about it. The next day, she went to Yu Chan's house and detailed everything that had happened recently.
Yu Chan seized on the key point: "Gu Si Yi went to Hong City to pursue you and even paid your penalty fee?"
Wu Yunyun nodded, knowing that was the case. With Gu Si Yi acting this way, others would think he was chasing her. However, Meng Yue was truly a troublemaker; she seemed so composed on the show, yet her actions were so unscrupulous. "Just wait! If I run into her again, she's done for!" Yu Chan said angrily, squeezing a pillow in frustration.
After participating in the show, Wu Yunyun deeply understood why some fans would unfollow their idols after meeting them. She felt helpless; she had thought Meng Yue was easy to get along with while watching the program, but reality was completely different.
"Was there really no one you liked among them? That Mi Zhong seemed alright," Yu Chan said, recalling Mi Zhong's handsome face, her grip on the pillow loosening as she began to gently stroke it.
"He's fine; I haven't interacted with him much, so I didn't notice any flaws."
"What about that pair you liked before? Kong Run and Song Mi'er—how are they?"
"Song Mi'er is quite aloof in private; I've only exchanged a few simple greetings with her." Wu Yunyun felt a bit regretful as she spoke; she admired Song Mi'er but had been too insecure to approach her.
"It's okay." Yu Chan noticed her low spirits and placed a pack of dried fruit in front of her. "Have some snacks."
"Okay." Wu Yunyun took a piece of dried peach and chewed on it. The sweet flavor spread across her palate as she glanced at the packaging, which was all in foreign languages.
"Wow, are your snacks this fancy?"
"I just bought whatever. If you want some, feel free to take more."
Wu Yunyun often marveled at Yu Chan's generosity. "You know, Yu Chan, in my eyes, you're like a god of wealth who scatters riches."
"Then you better treat me well! One day, the god of wealth will bless you with a mountain of gold," Yu Chan joked with a smile.
"In that case, thank you in advance!" Wu Yunyun clasped her hands together and bowed sincerely.
"Cut it out." Yu Chan swatted her hands away and snapped her fingers. "Your matchmaking needs to be prioritized; you can't let Gu Si Yi get ahead of you."
"I should focus on work first; I'm currently burdened with massive debt," Wu Yunyun replied with a frown.
"Wu Yunyun, who did you borrow money from?" Yu Chan quickly asked.
"I forgot to tell you earlier—there's a penalty for withdrawing from the show, and Gu Si Yi helped me pay it."
"What’s his account number? I'll pay him back."
"Don't even think about it! Even if you have money, you shouldn't spend it like that!"
"Are you really going to pay him back?"
Wu Yunyun nodded firmly. Yu Chan understood that Wu Yunyun was quite stubborn, so she didn't try to persuade her further. Instead, she said, "If you encounter any difficulties, feel free to come to me."
Wu Yunyun nodded again.
In truth, she had known from a young age that the gap between people could be immense. She had already learned to control herself and not to compare herself with others. Sometimes, thoughts would unconsciously surface, reminding her of the disparity between herself and those wealthy individuals.
For them, money might come easily; for her, it was something she had to strive hard to obtain. It was one thing to think about it, but in the end, she still had to yield to reality.
