Wu Yunyun lowered her head as she entered the elevator, seeking refuge in a corner. A tickling sensation arose in her chest, and she covered her mouth, coughing softly.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand from behind and began patting her back. Startled, she turned to see Gu Si Yi standing there. What was he doing here?
Just as she was about to speak, the hoarseness in her throat silenced her. "Don't say anything yet!" Gu Si Yi squeezed her hand. "We need to go to the hospital."
Wu Yunyun steadied herself and shook off his grip. "Gu Si Yi, I don’t need your concern. If I’m sick, I can go to the hospital myself. Now, please stay away from me; I don’t want to see you."
As she spoke, tears welled up in her eyes. She couldn't understand why she felt so wronged—after all, she was the one who had initiated the breakup!
Seeing her tearful expression softened Gu Si Yi's tone. "Let’s just go to the hospital first."
"I know my own body; I don’t need you to worry about it." Wu Yunyun was confused by his insistence. "Let me reiterate: we’ve broken up."
Ignoring the onlookers, Gu Si Yi leaned in and kissed her forcefully. He pried open her lips and deepened the kiss.
"What are you doing?" Wu Yunyun pounded on his chest, but it was futile.
Gu Si Yi was nearly driven mad. He had initially planned to give her some space for a few days, thinking she would realize that she belonged with him. But he hadn’t anticipated that Sun Aunty would cause such a scene.
When he learned that Wu Yunyun was going on a blind date, he felt an overwhelming urge to rush to her side and stop it. By the time he arrived, she was already engrossed in conversation with someone else—Mr. Zhang, who seemed intent on pursuing her further!
He had to suppress the impulse to confront him right then and there, watching the scene unfold like a jealous lover.
Fortunately, Mr. Zhang didn’t linger.
Finally, Gu Si Yi lightly bit Wu Yunyun's lip before releasing her. "If you won’t go to the hospital, then we’ll just be sick together."
"You're such a lunatic," Wu Yunyun glared at him.
Without waiting for a response, Gu Si Yi scooped her up in his arms. "Come home with me."
Wu Yunyun was afraid that Gu Si Yi was thinking about that again, so she hurriedly said, "Gu Si Yi, we’ve broken up."
"Can’t you say something else? I’m immune to that now." Gu Si Yi remained completely unfazed, his steps steady as ever.
He forcefully shoved her into the passenger seat, closed the door, and locked the car in one swift motion.
On the way, he called Lin Miao ahead of time, asking her to come over.
When they arrived at their destination, Gu Si Yi unbuckled her seatbelt and asked, "Are you getting out by yourself, or do you want me to carry you?"
"I can manage," Wu Yunyun said, pursing her lips as she got out of the car.
To prevent her from escaping, Gu Si Yi held onto her tightly.
As they entered the elevator, Wu Yunyun inadvertently locked eyes with Gu Si Yi. She felt a jolt and quickly looked away.
In the mirror, was that person staring back at her really Gu Si Yi?
Wu Yunyun's dazed state lasted until Lin Miao arrived.
Lin Miao handed Wu Yunyun some cold medicine and teased Gu Si Yi, "How do you take care of people? You keep making me come over every few days!"
Gu Si Yi shot a deep glance at Wu Yunyun but said nothing.
Lin Miao turned back to Wu Yunyun and said, "Although I don’t know what happened between you two, Gu Si Yi... he cares about you."
She recalled a time at a friend’s gathering when Gu Si Yi had too much to drink. He pulled out his wallet and sat alone in a corner for a long time.
When she went over to check on him, she discovered a photo tucked inside his wallet.
The person in the photo had features that unmistakably belonged to a younger version of Wu Yunyun.
