The next day, Wu Yunyun's voice was hoarse, and her whole body felt like it had fallen apart. After a brief stretch, she realized that every part of her ached.
"Ouch!" Wu Yunyun grimaced, her brows knitting together in discomfort.
Seeing this, Gu Si Yi wrapped her in his arms and gently massaged her. Wu Yunyun was too exhausted to retort; she nestled into his embrace, allowing him to fuss over her. Gradually, she began to relax.
"Wu Yunyun, there's a gathering in the middle of this month. I’d like to take you with me. Is that alright?"
Wu Yunyun's heart tightened at the thought. "But I—"
"Are you going to back out again? With me by your side, what is there to be afraid of?"
Wu Yunyun tightened her grip around him. "I know. Then I'll go."
She realized that her instinct was to avoid confrontation, a habit she needed to break. "If I do that again, you must remind me. We’ll face everything together!" Wu Yunyun looked at him with determination in her eyes.
"Alright!" Gu Si Yi held her fingers tightly.
The two of them stayed in each other's embrace for a long time.
When the day of the gathering arrived in mid-month, Wu Yunyun had done her homework online and even enrolled in a class to learn social etiquette. However, when it came time to put it into practice, she still felt nervous.
Gu Si Yi had chosen a pink princess dress for her and had even bought exquisite jewelry to match it in advance. The stylist styled Wu Yunyun's hair up, exposing her graceful neck. After the transformation, when Wu Yunyun looked in the mirror, she felt somewhat unfamiliar with herself. It was as if the world was one gigantic stage where even her appearance could be altered through makeup techniques.
Once they got into the car, Wu Yunyun suddenly remembered that she had left the gift at home—the one she had spent a fortune preparing.
"Hold her hand, no need to bring anything. We're just going to meet her," Gu Si Yi said firmly. The main point was to let those around him know that he was already taken.
Wu Yunyun, feeling anxious, nervously clutched the hem of her dress. "Look at me!" Gu Si Yi said as he lifted her chin, noticing her timid demeanor. "We're going over there to give her face! Remember, Wu Yunyun, you never need to feel inferior in front of anyone, even if that person is my closest relative. In my heart, you are more important than anyone else. Even if you have a falling out with her, I will stand by your side without hesitation."
Wu Yunyun listened, feeling warmth spread throughout her body, unable to regain her composure for a long time. Gu Si Yi sighed and teased, "If I had known that just saying a few words would have such an effect on you, I would have married you long ago."
At first, he thought that taking action would impress her, but he realized that words held the greatest power.
"You’re so annoying!" Wu Yunyun turned her face away in annoyance. Suddenly remembering the test she had found online to challenge him, she turned back and demanded, "Gu Si Yi, apologize to me!"
He looked at her in confusion. "I don’t care; you have to apologize!" Wu Yunyun insisted, tilting her head up like a proud peacock.
"Alright, baby, I'm sorry." Gu Si Yi had no idea what she was up to but complied obediently.
Wu Yunyun smiled and rewarded him with a kiss on his cheek. "Now you’re a qualified boyfriend!"
"Hmm? Wasn’t I before?" Gu Si Yi squinted his eyes playfully, his mood visibly dropping.
"You were," Wu Yunyun admitted under his intense gaze, quickly changing her response.
