Gu Si Yi led Wu Yunyun around, introducing her to everyone. She called out to her uncles and aunts, but before long, she felt dizzy from all the greetings.
Seeing that she was tired, Gu Si Yi took her to a rest area.
"Do you want something to eat?" he asked.
Wu Yunyun whispered in his ear that she wanted cake. She had never seen such a variety of exquisite treats before, and just looking at them made her mouth water.
"Wait here, I'll get you some," Gu Si Yi said as he grabbed a plate and picked out a few cute-looking desserts. He knew that Wu Yunyun loved these colorful and fancy items.
As she ate with a fork, she occasionally fed him a bite as well.
"Don't eat too much; after this, I'll take you to eat crayfish!"
"Really?" Wu Yunyun's eyes sparkled. It had been ages since she had last eaten crayfish.
"Yes, indeed! This is to reward my precious one for gathering the courage to come out with me."
Wu Yunyun looked at him and smiled happily.
At some point, Gu Yang arrived next to them and looked at Gu Si Yi. "Bro, this must be your future sister-in-law," he said, deliberately emphasizing "future" to gauge Gu Si Yi's reaction.
"You can just call her sister-in-law; no need to be so formal."
"Oh, I see," Gu Yang replied, turning to Wu Yunyun with a teasing smile. "With such a beautiful lady, I find it hard to call her that."
Feeling awkward, Wu Yunyun shifted her toes against the ground. She didn't have a good impression of Gu Si Yi as his younger brother.
"I want to leave," Wu Yunyun said, holding Gu Si Yi's hand.
"Okay, wait here for me. I'll go grab a jacket; it's getting cold outside, and your dress is too thin."
"Alright, just hurry back."
Noticing the intimate way they interacted without regard for anyone else, Gu Yang felt a bit displeased. After Gu Si Yi left, he sat down next to Wu Yunyun.
"My brother must have liked you for a long time, right?"
Wu Yunyun frowned in confusion as she looked at him.
I have seen your sketch; it was drawn by my brother. But don’t get me wrong, I looked at it without him knowing.
Wu Yunyun was momentarily confused about the other person's intentions. "Why are you telling me this?"
"I just noticed how hard he works," Gu Yang replied.
Since coming to the Gu Family, under his mother's deliberate guidance, he had always regarded Gu Si Yi as a rival. To his disappointment, Gu Si Yi didn’t take him seriously at all and even chose to become a university professor, stepping away from the competition. This left him feeling frustrated.
Now, however, there was a way to vent that frustration. Gu Si Yi monopolizing Wu Yunyun seemed like a path to self-destruction for him; soon, he would personally witness his downfall.
"Thank you for your kindness," Wu Yunyun said, feeling a ripple of emotion at Gu Yang's words. She suddenly became curious: would Gu Si Yi really love her as much as he claimed?
"You're welcome." Gu Yang raised his wine glass and clinked it with the one placed in front of Wu Yunyun. "That's all I have to say."
After Gu Yang left, Gu Si Yi returned with his coat. He glanced at Gu Yang's retreating figure and frowned. "Has he been here for long?"
"Yeah."
"What did he say?"
"Just some strange things," Wu Yunyun admitted, still unsure how to approach the topic with him.
"Oh, don’t mind him. My brother can be a bit odd." Gu Si Yi preferred to avoid contact with Gu Yang; doing so stirred up feelings of rage within him.
Wu Yunyun liked gentle and humble people. Under the influence of the characters in her favorite novel, she had deliberately trained herself to become someone he would like.
