Gu Si Yi had made an appointment with a famous Italian designer back in March to order matching couple rings. The design was his choice, and inside the rings were the initials of him and Wu Yunyun.
During his middle school years, he remembered how popular couple rings were. He would often see couples holding hands, proudly displaying their rings around campus. Back then, he thought they were rather cliché. But now, his perspective had changed; he felt a pressing need for this symbol of love to prove his affection for her.
The rings arrived just ten days before their breakup, and he had paid for them himself. The next morning, before Wu Yunyun had fully woken up, he slipped the ring onto her ring finger.
When she finally stirred, stretching lazily, she noticed the ring adorning her finger. It was small and sparkling, golden in color, perfectly fitting her finger size. She touched it with her other hand, taking it off to examine it closely, only to discover an inscription on the inner side.
With reddened eyes, she turned to look at the man beside her and found him with his eyes closed, his eyelashes fluttering slightly.
Wu Yunyun smiled and leaned over to kiss his eyes. "Gu Si Yi, did you buy this ring for me?"
The man who had pretended to be asleep opened his eyes at that moment, feigning ignorance as he asked, "What?"
Not looking at him, she placed the ring back on her finger and said playfully, "Oh, it's nothing. Just in my dream, someone gave me a ring that I absolutely adore!"
She felt a sense of triumph as she wondered how long he could keep up the act.
"What did you say?" The previously calm man now seemed a bit flustered.
Wu Yunyun giggled and repeated herself. "You little ungrateful one! This is clearly a gift from me!"
Gu Si Yi pulled her into his arms and kissed her fiercely.
Wu Yunyun gasped for breath and quickly pushed him away, taking a few rapid breaths. "I was just teasing you!"
"Are you happy?" Gu Si Yi looked deeply into her eyes as he asked.
"Happy." Wu Yunyun nestled into his embrace. "Thank you for giving me such a precious gift."
She held him tightly; he truly meant so much to her that she couldn’t bear to let go. Yes, she was terrified; she absolutely could not repeat past mistakes.
In this lifetime, experiencing a breakup just once is enough.
Gu Si Yi held her tightly, asking, "So you need to hold me close, do you understand?"
Wu Yunyun exerted all her strength to embrace him. Yet, she did not respond further.
Gu Si Yi had initially thought that his actions would change Wu Yunyun's attitude. However, in the following days, she continued to maintain her distance at appropriate moments.
He felt frustrated but didn’t want to let her go. On the surface, they appeared harmonious, but beneath it all, tensions were high.
This strain became uncontrollable after encountering Han Hanyue and hearing her say the words "break up." He could no longer contain his anger and ruthlessly tormented her.
At one moment, he felt like she was mocking him; she seemed genuinely capable of withdrawing completely. It felt as if she didn’t care about him at all.
This emotion was close to consuming him. Therefore, he wouldn’t let her leave; he was determined to keep her by his side.
He hurt her, yet that still didn’t stop her from having the courage to leave. Her wounds were not yet healed, and still, she wanted to part ways with him.
It seemed that Lu Xiaoqi's words had struck true; she was playing for real.
What she didn’t know was that even if she broke up with him, he still wanted her. He only wanted her.
