"Are you crazy?" Lao Chen shouted, "That could cost you your life!" 0
"Better than letting 'Him' destroy the entire world," Xu Rong replied with a bitter smile. "Besides... I think 'He' has already chosen me." 0
The helicopter lowered a rope, and Xu Rong secured the little girl onto the rescue stretcher, taking the Sound Wave Emitter for himself. 0
It was a silver cylinder, its surface covered in intricate circuits. 0
"Remember," Lao Chen's voice was filled with concern, "once activated, the Sonic Wave will attack indiscriminately. You only have three minutes..." 0
Xu Rong nodded and turned toward the black vortex. 0
He could feel 'His' excitement, a hunger that craved to occupy his body. 0
Tentacles wrapped around his limbs, the cold touch reminding him of corpses on an autopsy table. 0
"Now's the time!" 0
He shouted and activated the Sound Wave Emitter. 0
A piercing Sonic Wave erupted instantly, violently distorting the black vortex. 0
Xu Rong felt his eardrums bleeding but still gripped the emitter tightly. 0
The Tentacles thrashed wildly, trying to wrest away this deadly weapon. 0
"You... dare to..." The Ancient Voice was filled with rage, "I will make you... wish you were never born..." 0
Xu Rong felt his consciousness beginning to blur, but he saw the vortex shrinking, those glowing eyes extinguishing one by one. 0
Just then, he heard the little girl's weak voice: 0
"Uncle... thank you..." 0
Suddenly, a deafening explosion rang out. 0
Xu Rong felt his body thrown into the air; in his final moments of awareness, he saw the black vortex completely dissipate, sunlight once again pouring over the ruins of the campus... 0

The blinding white light. 0
The smell of disinfectant. 0
The rhythmic beeping of the heart monitor. 0

Xu Rong slowly opened his eyes, realizing he was lying in a hospital isolation room. His body was connected to various tubes, and a faint buzzing sound lingered in his ears. 0

"You finally woke up." 0

Lao Chen's voice came from outside the observation window. He was dressed in full protective gear, and his voice sounded somewhat distorted through the communicator. "You've been unconscious for two whole weeks." 0

Xu Rong wanted to speak, but his throat felt as if it had been scraped with sandpaper. A nurse handed him a cup of water, and he noticed a faint scar on her right hand, shaped like a plum blossom. 0

"Don't be nervous," Lao Chen noticed his gaze. "That's a mark left by the vaccine injection. We found 'it' genetic samples in Professor Lin's lab and developed a vaccine." 0

Xu Rong struggled to swallow the warm water. "What about that little girl..." 0

"She survived," Lao Chen's voice softened, "and she's completely back to normal. Thanks to you, the other infected children at the school were also saved." 0

Just then, the television in the room suddenly turned on by itself. The news was reporting on the latest discovery by the Deep Sea Exploration Team: "...a suspected man-made structure has been found on the ocean floor of the Atlantic, dating back one hundred thousand years..." 0

Xu Rong felt a sharp pain in his temples as that deep voice echoed in his mind: "Did you think... it was over...?" 0

"Turn off the TV!" 0

He sat up abruptly, yanking at the IV line with a loud clatter. The heart monitor emitted an ear-piercing alarm, and nurses rushed in frantically. 0

Lao Chen frowned through the glass. "What happened?" 0

Xu Rong stared intently at the television screen, where images of the underwater structure were being displayed. 0

In a fleeting moment, he saw a glow flash across the surface of the building, taking the shape of... an eye. 0
