"Wait," he suddenly grabbed Lao Chen's hand, "'It' is not attacking; 'It' is... exploring."
As if to confirm his words, the Giant Figure paused a kilometer away from the coast. It slowly lowered its head, its fluorescent green eyes gazing in the direction of the city. Xu Rong felt a surge of unfamiliar memories flooding his mind: the darkness of the deep sea, ancient civilizations, and... a catastrophic experiment.
"Xu Rong!"
Lao Chen's shout pulled him back to reality. "Your eyes..."
Xu Rong looked into the mirror and was horrified to find that one of his eyes had turned fluorescent green. He felt the scar on his right hand begin to heat up, the Glowing Symbols spreading along his arm, forming intricate patterns.
"It's assimilating me," Xu Rong said with difficulty, "but I can feel 'Its' thoughts... 'It' doesn't want to destroy us; 'It' is searching for something..."
Suddenly, the large screen in the command center flickered to life. An encrypted channel forced its way in, revealing an underground laboratory filled with Cultivation Pods. Each Cultivation Pod contained a glowing figure, identical to those that had appeared at the port.
"Hello," a voice altered by voice modulation echoed. "I believe you have already encountered our 'Masterpiece.'"
Xu Rong felt his heart constrict sharply. He recognized the logo on the laboratory wall—it was the emblem of the Biotechnology Company where Professor Lin had once worked.
"Five years ago," the voice continued, "we discovered a relic of an Ancient Civilization in the deep sea. It was not a building but a Biological Laboratory. 'It' is their most successful Masterpiece, a perfect collective consciousness..."
The scene shifted to display an Experimental Report. Xu Rong's pupils dilated in shock—the report clearly listed his genetic sequence.
"You think Professor Lin is the mastermind?"
The voice laughed, "No, he is just a pawn. The real plan began twenty years ago, from the moment you were born..."
Xu Rong felt a sudden, intense pain in the scar on his right hand, and the Glowing Symbols began to spread throughout his body. He saw the Giant Figure slowly raise its hand, pointing in his direction.
"You are the final key," the voice said, "the bridge connecting two worlds..."
Suddenly, the entire power system of the command center went down. In the darkness before the backup power kicked in, Xu Rong heard a low whisper in his ear: "Go home..."
The lights of the command center flickered back on, and Xu Rong felt the burning sensation in his right hand scar slightly subside. Lao Chen was urgently coordinating personnel, but Xu Rong's attention was drawn to an old case file on the table—the file for the "Crispy Pork Skin" case.
He opened the yellowed file, and a photograph slipped out: it was of the Convenience Store Owner, and there was a Plum Blossom-Shaped Scar on her right hand. Xu Rong felt a sharp pain in his temple as a vivid image flashed through his mind: in an Underground Factory, the store owner was placing pieces of human skin into a drying machine, and those skins were adorned with Glowing Symbols...
"Lao Chen," Xu Rong suddenly said, "the 'Crispy Pork Skin' case is connected to all of this."
Lao Chen frowned, "That case has already been closed, hasn't it?"
"No," Xu Rong pointed at the scar in the photograph. "Look at this symbol; it's identical to 'His' symbol. Those 'Crispy Pork Skins' are not just simple cannibal cases; they are a kind of... genetic carrier."
