At that moment, in the best hotel in Yun Cheng, the nearly transparent glass windows reflected the intertwined figures of two people. Scattered on the floor were remnants of the Phoenix Crown and Red Dress.
Rao Jie collapsed to her knees, breathless. Wu Rong followed suit, kneeling beside her, biting gently at Rao Jie’s neck. His voice was hoarse as he said, “Doesn’t it remind you of our first time in Romantic Country? I specifically chose a similar place. Do you like it?”
Rao Jie, lacking strength, spoke in broken sentences, “Mm... I like it.”
Wu Rong smiled and lifted Rao Jie, whose body was marked with traces of their passion. “Let’s go take a shower and then change into your wedding dress…”
“Can… can we rest for a moment? I’m exhausted.”
“No way, Spring Night Is Short!”
It wasn’t until the following afternoon that Wu Rong brought Rao Jie back to the Wu Family home. After forcing herself to greet Wu Rong's parents, she had to retreat to rest, as she felt she might collapse.
Mother Wu could no longer contain her curiosity. “Son, am I about to become a grandmother soon?”
Wu Rong leisurely sipped his coffee. “Not yet…”
Father Wu glanced at his son and remarked, “Come on, you just want to enjoy your time together as a couple. You think having another child would be a hassle, right?”
Wu Rong raised an eyebrow but didn’t deny it. To be honest, he relished the days when Rao Jie’s heart and eyes were filled with him. With the Rao Family parents not interfering and no immediate plans for children, Rao Jie was entirely his. He enjoyed this life.
Mother Wu felt helpless regarding her son but wasn’t in a hurry; after all, Rao Jie was still young.
“By the way, we’re leaving tomorrow. We’ve neglected the clothing store for too long; work has piled up. Xiao Yue will be coming with us. When are you two heading out? Let us know before you leave so we can welcome Jie Jie properly.”
Wu Rong nodded. “Probably in about two weeks. Once everything here is settled, we should leave directly.”
Father Wu hesitated for a moment before saying, “Regardless of how Rao Jie’s parents feel, I think you should at least say goodbye before you leave. No matter their attitude, just do it.”
After some thought, Wu Rong nodded; he believed Rao Jie would want to do the same. After all, this was akin to moving away.
The next day, Wu Rong and Rao Jie bid farewell to the three members of the Wu Family and began attending to their own matters. Their photos were quickly developed, and Rao Jie posted them on her social media.
She had a desire for her parents to see how far she had come in life; although she didn’t need their attention, she just wanted them to know.
Wu Rong completed his work before Rao Jie graduated and didn’t need to return to school anymore. A few days later, Rao Jie successfully graduated as well.
However, on the day after her graduation, Rao Jie mentioned to Wu Rong that she wanted to visit her hometown one last time before they left; she wished to take him along to pay respects to her grandmother.
Wu Rong understood that his grandmother was more important to Rao Jie than her own parents, so he was more than willing to accompany her. Moreover, it was the place where Rao Jie had spent her early life, and he was curious about it.
The town had developed quite well, and the cemetery was beautifully maintained. Rao Jie’s grandmother rested in that very place.
Rao Jie brought Wu Rong to formally meet her grandmother. She spoke softly at her grandmother's grave about her life and her partner, deliberately avoiding any mention of the troubles at home.
Throughout the visit, Rao Jie wore a smile and did not shed a tear in front of her grandmother's grave. Her grandmother had once told her not to cry but to be happy and smile instead. Therefore, she didn’t want her grandmother to see her crying after death.
