The scene illuminated by the light was a nightmare that Yan Qing never wanted to remember for the rest of his life. 0

He saw multiple people hanging from the trees, some suspended high above, their eyes wide open as branches pierced through their bodies. Others wore expressions filled with despair, skewered like skewers on a single branch; some even appeared to be missing parts of their bodies. The ground was soaked with mud, mingled with a strong metallic scent of blood, making it impossible to tell whether it was wet earth or blood-soaked soil. 0

Tan Ming reached for his phone, and only then did the horrific images begin to blur. Even though he could no longer see them, just the thought of those sights above him made Yan Qing feel an overwhelming discomfort throughout his body. 0

Lost in thought, he slowly raised his left hand and fiercely clawed at the branch that was wrapped around his wrist. Just as the idea formed in his mind, before he could even contemplate it further, he successfully snapped the branch and regained his freedom. 0

He stared in shock at the severed branch on the ground, which was about the thickness of a human thumb. He froze for a moment before looking at his own hand, astonished to find that it had transformed into a furry claw. 0

His right hand trembled as he reached out to touch it, feeling the soft fur and the solid palm. What was happening? His mind was filled with astonishment and confusion. 0

In front of him, Tan Ming's pained gasps broke through the air. Yan Qing couldn’t afford to dwell on his strange claw any longer; saving Tan Ming was more important! 0

He quickly severed the branches entangling him and dashed over, not caring what he stepped on beneath him. In an instant, he caught up with Tan Ming in the shadows. 0

He timed it perfectly, extending his sharp claws towards a rapidly moving branch on the ground. With one swift motion, he cleanly severed it. The claws glimmered coldly in the dark night, looking more menacing than any blade. 0

Tan Ming was freed but fell backward onto the ground due to inertia. He struggled to push himself up but suddenly felt something smooth under his hand. The texture made him pause—was it a card? 0

Yan Qing quickly hid his left hand inside his sleeve and turned around anxiously to ask, "Are you okay?" 0

Tan Ming's face looked pale as he replied, "I’m fine." 0

Instinctively, he discreetly slipped his right hand into his pocket while revealing two deep red marks on his left wrist where it had been constricted—an alarming sight. 0

"Shouldn’t you bandage that?" 0

"No," Tan Ming replied, unwilling to waste any medical supplies. "It’s fine." 0

He spoke. 0

Yan Qing recalled the time he had saved him, thinking to himself that this person truly kept a close account of things. 0

Tan Ming actually wanted to ask Yan Qing how he managed to break that incredibly tough branch, but just then, he heard the rustling of branches moving in the small grove. He quickly shouted, "Run!" 0

Immediately, several branches sprang up behind them, slithering like snakes as they swiftly pursued. 0

Tan Ming and Yan Qing sprinted desperately towards safety. Tan Ming ran slightly faster, with Yan Qing close behind, gritting his teeth as he carried the beast's claw on his back. He continuously sliced through the branches that lunged at him, trying to grab his hand and waist. 0
