No one dared to move. Their instincts and experiences warned them of danger. A few exchanged glances, and eventually, their eyes settled on Yan Qing and Tan Ming. 0

Yan Qing, bold as ever, slowly lifted his foot and took a step forward. Tan Ming grasped his hand, shaking his head to signal him not to proceed. Yan Qing glanced back at him, paused, then swept his gaze across the ground. He crouched down and picked up a small stone, tossing it ahead. 0

After he threw the stone, everyone remained poised to flee at a moment's notice, holding their breath. A minute passed without any reaction; even the leaves of the Rose plant didn’t stir. 0

“It’s fine!” Fat Girl said. 0

“Don’t forget about the Ginkgo Tree by the roadside!” someone reminded. 0

In the campus, nearly all the plants had mutated. Some appeared harmless on the surface but had been known to attack unexpectedly. 0

Suddenly, Tall Girl approached Yan Qing without a sound and shoved him hard. Caught off guard, Yan Qing stumbled forward a couple of steps, thinking to himself that he looked like he was courting death. 0

Tan Ming quickly caught his hand, preventing him from falling, and shot a glare at the girl. She avoided his gaze, showing no sign of remorse as she lowered her head to look at the ground. 0

Tan Ming’s cold stare remained fixed on her as he said icily, “Congratulations on having such a teammate.” With that, he pulled Yan Qing back and intended to leave. 0

The others glanced at the girl with mixed expressions, subtly keeping their distance from her. The girl glared at them in anger, her eyes filled with resentment. “I’m doing this for you!” 0

Hearing this, Yan Qing scoffed coldly. “Don’t make insidious excuses for yourself!” 0

“You’re fine, aren’t you?” 0

“Ha! If luck is on my side, I’m fine; if not… well, who knows?” Yan Qing replied with a smirk. 0

“Enough.” Someone intervened. 0

“Is this really the time to argue?” 0

A boy rolled up his sleeves eagerly and climbed up. He placed his feet against the wall and grasped the iron railing with both hands. Using all fours to ascend, he stepped onto the top bar of the railing and exclaimed excitedly to the others below, “We can get out!” 0

A few people dashed past, and Yan Qing hesitated for a moment. Tan Ming grabbed his hand, signaling him not to act impulsively. 0

The others followed suit, attempting to climb the wall. The two boys moved swiftly, while the two girls struggled a bit. Above, someone was eager to escape and leaped over. 0

Just as his body flipped over the school wall, a sudden scream erupted. He found himself suspended in mid-air, engulfed in red flames. It was just like what Yan Qing and the others had seen in the library regarding the Spontaneous Combustion Theory; within a minute, he was reduced to nothing but ash. 0

The group climbing the wall was startled by the sight and hurriedly jumped down, landing on the ground with pale faces. The two girls were particularly shaken and began to cry. 0

Tan Ming was certain that the designated area encompassed the entire campus. He glanced outside the wall; from the moment it had been activated, they had become trapped like animals in a cage. 0

Tan Ming fell into deep thought. Meanwhile, Yan Qing was conflicted as he stared at Tan Ming's hand clasped with his own, acutely aware of the warmth radiating from Tan Ming's palm. He coughed lightly as a reminder. 0

"What’s wrong?" Tan Ming looked at him, puzzled. 0

Yan Qing awkwardly raised their joined hands. 0

Tan Ming paused for a moment before releasing his grip, his expression calm and composed. 0

Yan Qing scratched his head; perhaps he was being too sensitive about it. Tan Ming liked boys—he seemed to fall for one after another. What on earth was he thinking day by day? 0

As they left in a daze, suddenly, the person at the back collapsed onto the ground with a thud. 0
