He knew that he needed to make more preparations, so he continued, "May I borrow your megaphone?"
Shen Jianghuan quickly handed the megaphone to Tan Ming.
"Everyone, the situation is not yet hopeless, so please do not lose heart! In times like this, as long as we stand united, there is nothing to fear." Tan Ming was not usually eloquent, but he made an effort to express himself clearly and concisely so that everyone could understand.
"We will find the culprit for you, but we also need your cooperation. Remember, our common goal is survival—staying alive! Right now, we need to plan for our survival!"
"Shen Jianghuan and Master Ban, you two go upstairs and retrieve the list."
"Understood."
The rest of the people lined up neatly. "Li Da Shu, you stand at the front."
Although the crowd was filled with confusion, they needed a leader at this moment, so they obediently stood up and formed a long line.
Yan Qing also stood up; the line had already reached the fountain. Just as he was about to move forward, Tan Ming grabbed his hand and said, "You stay here?"
"Oh," Yan Qing replied softly, stepping beside Tan Ming.
"Am I supposed to go to the front?" Li Jianping asked in confusion. Why did he need to stand at the front?
"Yes."
Seeing Tan Ming's certainty, Li Jianping stepped out of the line and moved to the front.
"Li Da Shu, stand behind him in a row; one row in the middle and another on the left!"
The crowd lined up in an orderly fashion. After everyone was arranged, Tan Ming took out three sheets of paper from his backpack along with three pens and handed them to those at the front. "Write down your names and classes; nothing else is needed. Once you're done, pass it to the next person as quickly as possible."
Those who finished stood behind Li Da Shu.
In less than a few minutes, a long line formed behind Li Jianping. Seeing that there were enough people, Tan Ming told Li Jianping, "Take them to the cafeteria. Go to all five cafeterias in the school and gather all the food and anything edible there. There’s a truck at the entrance of the cafeteria; find one with keys and load it up quickly."
"Got it." Li Jianping immediately understood Tan Ming's intention.
After Li Jianping led his group away, Tan Ming instructed them to form another line. "You all go to Xiyuan; start from Building Dormitory and take all the blankets down to the cafeteria. Oh, first go to the first floor and grab some sheets to lay down below; no need to bring down blankets from upstairs—just throw them down. There are tricycles downstairs; fill one up and take it to the cafeteria. If there are no keys for the tricycles, have more people push them—do it as quickly as possible."
"Understood."
This group consisted of no fewer than a hundred people.
Tan Ming then sent several dozen people to the supermarket to gather food and daily necessities for the cafeteria, instructing them not to take everything—some items needed to be left behind.
Tan Ming gathered more than thirty staff members and instructed them to weld the restaurant windows shut. The back door was sealed off, leaving only one entrance. Without sufficient materials, they dismantled the classroom and dormitory doors to make do with what they had.
Everyone understood his intentions; he aimed to transform the restaurant into a safe house, and they were all willing to cooperate. If they could find the culprit today, that would be ideal. If not, they needed to prepare for their own safety in advance.
Yesterday, they had only fifteen minutes to prepare, catching everyone off guard. Today, with some preparation, they hoped the situation would be better.
When Shen Jianghuan and the others arrived, Tan Ming and Yan Qing were busy marking the school's layout on a map. A blackboard had been brought in from somewhere, and the map was hung on it. Dangerous areas were highlighted in red marker, and various plants and animals that could potentially attack were noted on the board for everyone to be aware of.
