Who doesn’t curry favor with the envoy these days? It’s in the nature of the weak to seek the protection of the strong. With this thought, he couldn’t help but feel a bit irritated. 0

“It’s better for us ordinary folks to keep some distance from the envoy,” he said to Yan Qing. 0

However, in Yan Qing’s view, making friends and finding like-minded individuals was the best approach; he didn’t care about what others thought. “As long as I’m having a good time, why bother with anything else?” 0

With that in mind, Yan Qing buried his head in his food. Before long, two chicken legs appeared in his bowl. When he looked up, Tan Ming was already sitting directly across from him, his expression calm. 0

“Can he even digest so many chicken legs?” Qi Qiuluo exclaimed as he used his chopsticks to pick one out of Yan Qing’s bowl. Just as he did so, Tan Ming’s chopsticks swiftly knocked it out of Yan Qing's bowl. 0

Qi Qiuluo was furious. 0

“I can digest it; I can eat!” Yan Qing quickly defended his chicken leg, taking a big bite with a look of satisfaction on his face. 0

Seeing this, Qi Qiuluo felt a mix of frustration and helplessness. He thought to himself that it was pointless; one wanted to eat while the other was willing to let him. So he decided to ignore them and quietly continued eating his own meal. 0

After finishing his rice, Yan Qing polished off the chicken legs cleanly, leaving Qi Qiuluo utterly astonished. He gaped in disbelief and said, “Looking at you being so thin, I thought you couldn’t eat much. I didn’t expect you to eat so heartily!” 0

Yan Qing merely smiled, a hint of embarrassment in his grin. Normally, he wouldn’t eat this much. 0

After washing his bowl and returning it, Tan Ming handed back a bag to Yan Qing that had already been emptied but was now stuffed full again. 0

“Thank you,” Yan Qing said sincerely. 0

He felt a bit guilty for Tan Ming helping him so quietly like this. But he deeply etched this kindness into his heart. 0

“Sugar-coated bullets,” Qi Qiuluo scoffed coldly, looking disdainful. “It’s just a bag of food; look at how moved you are, you silly boy.” 0

Yan Qing replied earnestly, “Even though your brother got a little something, I find him more likable than you—at least he doesn’t have a sharp tongue.” 0

Though spoken casually, it struck a nerve with Qi Qiuluo. His expression darkened instantly like a storm cloud as he turned around and stormed upstairs without saying another word. 0

Yan Qing felt a pang of realization: had he touched on something that hurt him? Who knew? Tan Ming furrowed his brows, his tone firm. He didn’t need your apology. 0

I should go after him; it was my mouth that got us into this. Yan Qing said as he stood up and hurried to catch Qi Qiuluo. 0

As Yan Qing ascended the stairs, he suddenly thought about using the restroom, but the boys' bathroom was at the other end of the building, so he took a detour. 0

Passing by a small storage room, he noticed the door slightly ajar. Voices drifted out from inside. 0

"You’re lying." 0

Was that the voice of the quiet girl? It sounded like Jiang Jie. 0

Yan Qing’s footsteps involuntarily halted. 0

"What lie did I tell?" Zhang Liu asked, puzzled. 0

"You can directly predict the culprit; the so-called clues left by the murderer are just your fabrications!" Jiang Jie’s voice was filled with certainty. 0

"Alright, you got me there. One messenger being able to see through another's abilities is indeed a huge..." Zhang Liu admitted helplessly. 0
