The transformation of Xiao Wang Yi was so drastic that it left everyone momentarily stunned and bewildered. Zhang Liu furrowed his brows tightly, lost in thought. Both Master Ban and Li Jianping remained silent. Fan Xiaonan also kept her lips sealed, saying nothing. Only Tan Ming's gaze was fixed intently on Xiao Wang Yi, unable to comprehend how the person who had just confronted Zhang Liu so boldly could suddenly appear so timid.
Yan Qing observed quietly, equally puzzled by Xiao Wang Yi's sudden reversion to a familiar demeanor. Yes, it was familiar; the Xiao Wang Yi he knew seemed to embody this very essence. Had the person who had just stood up to Zhang Liu lost their mind? Yet if the doctor were indeed the culprit, it could only mean he had concealed his true nature exceptionally well.
Initially, Tan Ming had harbored doubts about Xiao Wang Yi, but as time passed, the latter's behavior appeared increasingly normal, gradually dispelling any suspicion. It seemed that anything was possible.
"You test me, and I swear, if I am the murderer, let me suffer eternal damnation!" Xiao Wang Yi exclaimed desperately, tears streaming uncontrollably down his cheeks. He presented himself as a meek and timid figure, hardly resembling a killer. Compassion stirred within the others.
They leaned towards believing that the unseen envoy who had never revealed himself was the true culprit. "Why not test him?" Shen Jianghuan suggested to Jiang Jie, uncertainty lacing his tone.
Jiang Jie glanced at Tan Ming, awaiting his direction. "You decide; no need to ask me," he replied.
After a moment of hesitation, Jiang Jie reasoned that if the doctor were indeed the murderer, then voting against him would carry no moral burden and would spare an innocent person from being wrongfully accused. Thus, he conceded, "Alright then."
If Xiao Wang Yi claimed he was the murderer and was lying, it would lead to dire consequences for him. The camera clicked sharply, and a green light flashed instantaneously.
Xiao Wang Yi couldn't contain his joy; he laughed through his tears as he wiped his face dry. Then suddenly remembering something important, he picked up his pen and resumed writing notes. Tan Ming cast a meaningful glance at him.
"What have we achieved after all this?" Li Jianping asked, his face filled with helplessness and his tone heavy with frustration. The Prophet claimed that Xiao Wang Yi was the murderer, yet Xiao Wang Yi had proven himself innocent. So, after all their efforts and anticipation, what was the outcome?
"At least we managed to eliminate a werewolf, didn't we?" Tan Ming replied calmly, his expression betraying no hint of emotion.
Suddenly, Qi Qiuluo stood up abruptly, snorting derisively. "It seems we can't rely on you messengers at all!" With that, he strode away.
As he passed by Yan Qing, his gaze darkened unexpectedly. Just moments ago, during the vote to eliminate the werewolf, he had inadvertently turned his head and caught sight of flames igniting in Yan Qing's hand. Although the flames had just begun to flicker—barely a hint of a spark—he was certain he hadn't misjudged; it was unmistakably Tong Chengjie's fire!
He was taken aback.
Despite racking his brain to understand why Yan Qing had not been killed by Tong Chengjie, he was now absolutely convinced that Yan Qing was indeed the werewolf!
Xu Le, who sat behind Yan Qing, suddenly sprang to his feet, fists clenched tightly as veins bulged on his forehead. His fiery temper could not tolerate such arrogance from anyone.
Zhang Yan hurriedly got up to stop him, gripping Xu Le's arm tightly and pleading with him to sit back down.
