Inside the office, Zhang Liu cautiously locked the door after Tan Ming entered. Tan Ming leaned against the desk, his tall figure relaxed, one hand resting on the edge of the table. The sleeves of his white shirt were rolled up, revealing strong wrists, and his gaze fell on Zhang Liu.
"Senior," Zhang Liu said as he walked directly in front of him, his expression slightly serious.
In truth, Zhang Liu had always found it difficult to meet Tan Ming's eyes. He was constantly regretting the mistakes he had made in the past, but unfortunately, he had never found an opportunity to make amends. Tan Ming seemed unwilling to even speak to him.
Tan Ming slowly raised his gaze, looking at him with a calm expression. "What do you want to say?"
Zhang Liu's heart skipped a beat; Tan Ming's tone suggested he already knew what Zhang Liu was about to ask. "The Traveling Card was taken by you?" Zhang Liu attempted to find a crack in Tan Ming's impassive face.
To be honest, he was surprised that he had predicted this outcome. It was the first time he had strongly doubted his ability to make accurate predictions.
"Be a little more confident; you are correct," Tan Ming said casually as he flipped through a stack of papers on the desk.
He was not surprised at all that Zhang Liu knew it was he who took the Traveling Card but still claimed it was Yan Qing. Just as he understood that deep down, Zhang Liu was someone who would betray others without hesitation to protect those he wanted to defend.
Zhang Liu could feel Tan Ming's deliberate aloofness toward him. He could only pretend not to care.
"Why?" Zhang Liu asked him. "Why did you take the Traveling Card? If you took the card, why would you let me calculate?"
Tan Ming organized the papers on the desk neatly. "I let you calculate to confirm the accuracy of your predictions. Clearly, your predictions are spot on."
So far, only two people knew about Tan Ming taking the Traveling Card: Fan Xiaonan, who could see through his identity, and Qi Qiuluo, who knew he held two cards.
When Fan Xiaonan saw him, his mind instantly conjured up information about his abilities and sensed something was off. In the archives, he used Shiguang Su as his ability. In the surveillance room, Fan Xiaonan heard Tan Ming tell several others that his ability was Shiguang Su, yet what appeared in Fan Xiaonan's mind was something entirely different.
He soon realized that something was amiss. He and Fan Xiaonan avoided discussing the matter that Yan Qing had mentioned in the monitoring room. Fan Xiaonan helped him conceal the truth, and in return, they struck a deal. Fan Xiaonan would keep his secret, and he would help clear her name of being a suspect in the murder case. Additionally, Fan Xiaonan added one more condition: if Tan Ming was indeed the murderer, he must not be killed in the end. Tan Ming agreed.
Fan Xiaonan was the prime suspect in the case, as she matched the three Killer Clues left by the system and had destroyed information related to the dormitory. When Tan Ming told everyone that the three clues left by the murderer were vague and that anyone who had passed through the dormitory could be considered a suspect, the concerns about Fan Xiaonan significantly diminished.
