"Who initiated the vote?" Shen Jianghuan asked everyone.
Several people's gazes flickered towards Yan Qing, only to quickly retract.
"It's fine, everyone can vote for me without worry," Yan Qing said, appearing much more relaxed than the others.
His demeanor only made everyone feel suspicious.
"Aren't you afraid of dying?" Master Ban asked him.
Yan Qing replied honestly, "Of course I'm afraid. But what good does that do?" His gaze shifted slightly; compared to being devoured by those frenzied plants and animals, perhaps dying at their hands would be much more merciful.
"What do you mean?" Fan Xiaonan inquired.
Yan Qing smiled faintly, a hidden depth in his eyes. "You are fortunate to have stayed in the restaurant, unaware of what the outside has become. However," he continued, scanning the crowd, "as long as the murderer doesn't reveal themselves, our fates will ultimately be the same. In fact, they may suffer even more than I will."
"Is the situation outside already out of control?" Shen Jianghuan thought about the continuously evolving plants and animals at the restaurant's entrance. In just a few days, they had not only grown larger but had also become more aggressive. If they continued to evolve, they would turn into monsters or beasts, and the restaurant might not hold out for long.
Yan Qing shook his head. "None of us can escape."
His words inevitably created psychological pressure among the group.
Everyone fell silent for a minute.
Tan Ming finally spoke up. "What does everyone think?"
He was referring to the voting situation—whether they should continue voting for Yan Qing.
"What else is there to consider? If we don't vote for the werewolf, who else can we vote for?" Ling Xing retorted.
They had refrained from initiating a vote simply because Yan Qing had not regained his human form until now. Now that he had returned to his human state and could be voted for, he didn't understand why everyone was hesitating.
"Senior, I still stand by my prediction," Zhang Liu stated, expressing his stance.
He could see Tan Ming's bias towards Yan Qing, but he remained firm in his prediction.
"And what about you all?" Tan Ming asked the others.
Not a single person spoke up.
Seeing this, Zhang Liu was the first to initiate the vote.
Just as he was about to take out the Red Card, someone interrupted him. "Why don't we wait a bit longer? Perhaps Yan Qing isn't the murderer," Xiao Wang Yi suggested at the right moment.
He pushed up his glasses and smiled at Yan Qing, feeling that they shouldn't act so impulsively. Jiang Jie was also conflicted; the mere fact that Yan Qing dared to show up here diminished their suspicions by nearly half.
Li Jianping, known for his short temper, surprisingly calmed down and countered, "If Yan Qing were the murderer, would he be foolish enough to come here and let us vote?"
Old Li made a good point, Master Ban agreed. Some supported voting for Yan Qing while others remained skeptical; everyone had different opinions.
"What do you think?" Shen Jianghuan asked Tan Ming.
Unbeknownst to them, Tan Ming had become the backbone of the group.
"I have no opinion," Tan Ming replied. "But if we don't vote for the werewolf, who else can we vote for?"
Tan Ming's attitude was objective; he didn't defend anyone. The crowd fell silent.
In their minds, they collectively conjured up an answer: the arsonist! But no one knew who that person was!
Yan Qing had just been driven out during that time, clearing his suspicions.
Seeing their expressions, Yan Qing spoke up, "To be honest, I don't know if I'm the murderer either. So far, all the evidence points to me, and I have nothing to say or explain."
He didn't finish his sentence but added, "If there's a chance I am the murderer, I hope everyone votes for me because I want this system to end quickly." This was his heartfelt confession.
