Qi Qiuluo looked up and muttered something about them being a persistent presence.
Once they approached, Ling Xing seemed unafraid, straightening his back.
"We went to your dorm," Yan Qing stated directly.
"And so what?" Qi Qiuluo replied, crossing her arms nonchalantly.
"There's information about you on the door; you're in performance."
Qi Qiuluo's expression changed momentarily but quickly returned to normal.
Tan Ming remarked coldly, "You acted well; that scene with your brother fooled us completely, not a hint of a flaw."
Qi Qiuluo retorted cheekily, "Flattery! Students in performance love hearing others praise our acting."
Yan Qing pressed on, "Now that your act is exposed, Qi Qiuluo, tell us what you know."
"What do I know?" Qi Qiuluo shot back.
He laughed sarcastically, "I could tell you what I know, but would you really believe me?"
Yan Qing hesitated slightly before saying, "If you dare to say it, we will believe you!"
"Ha! That sounds so unconvincing," Qi Qiuluo scoffed. "If you trust me, just vote for the doctor!" She lowered her arms.
"The doctor is the culprit?"
Qi Qiuluo shook her head firmly. "I don’t know. But we must vote for the doctor!"
"Why?" Tan Ming asked.
His certainty about the doctor had to be based on something.
Qi Qiuluo suddenly lost her patience and snapped, "There’s no reason!"
"Can you stop being so stubborn? You said vote for the doctor, so just vote for the doctor! Why do you need a reason? Did your mother give birth to you for a reason? Does everything have to exist because of a reason?!" she fumed.
Yan Qing and Tan Ming exchanged glances.
"Don't mind Qi Qiuluo; that's just how she is. Listening to her won't lead you astray," Ling Xing interjected at the right moment.
He couldn't shake off the memory of another Red Card he had glimpsed while stealing cards earlier. Though he hadn’t seen its face, he felt an instinctive urge to trust Qi Qiuluo's judgment.
Tan Ming's gaze fell upon him, and he quickly waved his hands, insisting that he knew nothing and had seen nothing!
Upon hearing this, Yan Qing was even less inclined to believe that he was completely unaware. It was clear that he simply did not want to share anything with them. Yan Qing asked himself if he was being unreasonable, and then said, "Since you’ve said that, Qi Qiuluo, I will trust you without any reservations. I am willing to believe you this time. However, Qi Qiuluo, this cannot be taken lightly; you must listen to me completely!"
Qi Qiuluo looked at him defiantly. "Why should I listen to you?"
Tan Ming glanced at the Skeleton he was holding. "Because of Jiang Li."
Those three words caused Qi Qiuluo's expression to change dramatically as he took a deep breath.
Tan Ming continued, "Jiang Li is my subordinate, and I trust him." It was only after seeing Jiang Li's name on the list in Qi Qiuluo's dormitory that Tan Ming had guessed the connection between Jiang Li and Qi Qiuluo.
"I may not know the details of your relationship with Jiang Li, but he cares for you deeply. After you two broke up, he has been in despair every day; in fact, he even ended up in the hospital."
Hearing this made Qi Qiuluo feel a bitter irony. "You must have been deceived by Jiang Li; he's better at pretending than I am. He can be depressed?"
Qi Qiuluo found it laughable. It was Jiang Li who had cheated, yet he acted like a victim in front of everyone. If it weren't for the synchronized messages from Jiang Li's phone, he would never have believed that Jiang Li could betray him.
Although Qi Qiuluo had been in several relationships and appeared to be quite the romantic, he prided himself on his integrity and had never strayed during those times. Every one of his past partners was more reliable than Jiang Li; yet it was the seemingly virtuous Jiang Li who had betrayed him.
Jiang Li had hurt him the most deeply.
"Jiang Li likes you," Tan Ming said, though his conviction wavered. He had never doubted Jiang Li's feelings for Qi Qiuluo, but he disapproved of how Jiang Li used love as a guise while stabbing his partner in the back.
"So what?" Qi Qiuluo suddenly exploded with anger, his eyes red as he glared at Tan Ming. "He cheated and still expects me to forgive him? He tried to take his own life because of you two!"
