Was it underneath the clothes?
As he thought this, he rummaged through his clothing, and a few people silently watched his actions without stopping him. However, Yan Qing did not find the notebook; instead, he discovered a Red Card. He picked up the Red Card and returned it to Qi Qiuluo.
"What about the notebook?" Yan Qing asked, looking up.
"What notebook?" Zhang Liu inquired.
"He had a notebook," Tan Ming recalled the three questions Dr. Wang had laid out in the notebook. He furrowed his brow, feeling a bit strange. But he couldn't quite articulate what was odd about it.
Xiao Wang was dead, yet he had left them with questions. Why was he the one Wang Xiaoyan had always been waiting for? What connection did he have with Wang Xiaoyan? What was the relationship between this system and Wang Xiaoyan? How did Wang Xiaoyan die? Why could they never seem to escape the shadow of Wang Xiaoyan?
Tan Ming felt they were getting infinitely closer to the answers.
After everyone had eaten at Fountain Square, they returned to the restaurant. To deal with the mutated flora and fauna, they had reinforced the doors and windows, and the walls that had been knocked down were rebuilt with metal sheeting.
Returning to this place brought a wave of nostalgia among them. Since they had eliminated a murderer, the attitude of ordinary people towards their group had improved slightly; it was no longer as intense as before.
The countdown continued...
Outside, the roars of Mutated Animals echoed once more, followed by the sounds of impacts against the doors, windows, and outer walls. Tension gripped everyone again.
"Let’s take a break," Tan Ming said to the group.
Based on his assessment of the restaurant's current defensive capabilities, he believed they could hold out for several hours without issue. During the fifteen hours of stillness from the flora and fauna, everyone busied themselves either searching for supplies or repairing and fortifying the restaurant; not a single person wasted this hard-won time to catch their breath.
Back in the resting area, Yan Qing lay on his bed when suddenly something came to mind. He sat up and said, "Did you all forget something?"
He was squeezed onto a bed with Tan Ming, who was sitting up, leaning back with his eyes closed, resting. He opened his eyes. What? Are they going to vote to kill me? They hadn't even decided whether to vote him out yet.
The Messengers were caught off guard by Xiao Wang's sudden attack, completely forgetting that he was their prime suspect for being a werewolf. Qi Qiuluo beside him let out a cold laugh. What’s the rush? It will eventually be your turn.
Not voting to kill him didn’t mean he was completely cleared of suspicion; it simply meant everyone had found a better option. As he thought this, Qi Qiuluo glanced at Tan Ming with a hint of amusement. You suddenly revealed your third identity without discussing it with us first.
Things have their own pace, Tan Ming said. Revealing Zai Zhe's identity was something he had to do out of necessity. At that moment, the real doctor, Qi Qiuluo, had already been voted out, and the other Messengers dared not vote recklessly again. Moreover, Tan Ming hadn’t informed them of his suspicions about Xiao Wang’s identity beforehand.
Ling Xing had confidently asserted that they would find another Red Card on Xiao Wang, but in reality, it was the opposite. They only found Qi Qiuluo's Red Card on Xiao Wang. No one knew where his own Red Card was hidden except for Xiao Wang himself.
Tan Ming had made this decision suddenly and couldn’t be sure if his guess was correct. Just then, three Messengers were ready to proceed with a new round of voting.
