It was difficult to make them believe this absurd theory. Yet, there were no other avenues for speculation.
"What do you think, Tan Ming?" Qi Qiuluo asked him.
He truly did not know if this theory could hold up, even though it seemed far-fetched. Since Tan Ming took out the paper from Yan Qing, he had been thinking about the first time he met Li Yan, when she had written with blood under her arm. There was one detail that might have been a random mark.
He pondered: if Li Yan wanted to tell them that Wang Xiaoyan was the murderer, why did she write anything extra? Was Li Yan really leaving them clues? But Li Yan had clearly noted the time; why didn't she write down the murderer’s name, even just a single letter?
Moreover, Li Yan had already left the Pavilion. If she knew who the murderer was from the start, why didn’t she inform the school through her phone or some other means? Why go through such a convoluted route?
And if Wang Xiaoyan was indeed the murderer, why didn’t she take revenge on the school leaders instead of targeting them? Did she really die at school for her sake? Was her revenge random? But if it was random, why did it happen exactly fifteen years later today?
Tan Ming was filled with doubt.
Li Yan's actions were actually contradictory. Writing in blood seemed like an attempt to provide them with clues, yet the truth about Wang Xiaoyan's death was hidden away in her pocket. If it weren't for Yan Qing accidentally noticing it, no one would have discovered the great secret concealed there.
"Yan Qing," Tan Ming finally spoke up.
Yan Qing looked at him.
"When you took out the paper, did you notice if Li Yan had a Red Card in her pocket?"
"What?" Yan Qing was shocked.
"Was Li Yan also a Messenger?"
This speculation made Zhang Liu furrow his brows; perhaps it could be true.
"But wait, didn’t Li Yan die? If she were a Messenger, why didn’t she save herself?" Qi Qiuluo asked in confusion.
"What if her Messenger Tool couldn’t save her?" Zhang Liu countered.
"No, we have overlooked an issue!" Tan Ming said, drawing everyone's attention.
"What issue?" they all turned to him.
Tan Ming continued, "Our Wolf Messenger Identity isn't confirmed until it's activated with the Red Card. However, activation has a prerequisite."
"Being well-fed!" Yan Qing chimed in, understanding immediately.
"So even if Li Yan is a messenger, she hasn't had the chance to activate her Wolf Messenger Identity!"
"But why did Li Yan foreseeably place the truth about Wang Xiaoyan's death in her pocket?" someone questioned.
"In this situation, it suggests that she must have known beforehand," Tan Ming replied. "But how did she know? Either she heard Wang Xiaoyan's voice after the activation, or she was already designated as the murderer!"
"This also explains why she's so conflicted—wanting to tell everyone while simultaneously wanting to hide the truth."
"In other words, the person who picked up Li Yan's Red Card is the murderer!" Yan Qing followed their line of thought to clarify.
"Li Yan Professor is already dead, and the activation hasn't ended, which means her Red Card must have been activated by someone else!"
His gaze sharpened as he asked, "What if the one activating the Red Card isn't human?"
His words sent a chill through the group.
"What do you mean?" they all looked at him in confusion.
