An ancient temple stood with a steady stream of worshippers coming to pay their respects. The devotees had personally planted the Plum Blossom Tree at the temple entrance, and the old monk recited prayers for it. The Plum Blossom Tree grew alongside the sound of the chanting.
Time turned, and the world transformed. Over a thousand years passed. Skyscrapers rose one after another, and the old temple faced demolition. A short, stout man in a suit spoke excitedly on the phone. "What? This Plum Blossom Tree has been here for over a thousand years? It can go to auction? Great, great!"
The Plum Blossom Tree was uprooted entirely. Under the spotlight, the Auctioneer, dressed in a beautiful blue-and-white qipao, announced with a melodious voice, "Next up is our auction item, the Millennium Plum Tree, starting bid at twenty million!"
After several failed bids, the Plum Blossom Tree was eventually donated to a school. On its first day there, the Old Principal personally watered it with great care. As time passed through several principals, the Plum Blossom Tree gradually blended in with the other greenery on campus. One principal even complained that it occupied the best feng shui spot and moved it to a small hill on the back playground.
Within two years, that small hill became the school's garbage dump. Day after day, the Plum Blossom Tree was buried under heaps of trash; its trunk dried up and it stopped blooming.
It wasn't until Wang Xiaoyan's principal took office that it received gentle care again and was relocated beneath Building Nanyuan. This was the memory of the Plum Blossom Tree.
Wang Xiaoyan leaped down from the building above, her blood flowing onto its roots, gradually merging with it. From that moment on, she was both Wang Xiaoyan and the Plum Blossom Tree.
Wang Xiaoyan thought back to her university days. She pushed open her dormitory door, where her roommate Cheng Xin enthusiastically invited her, "Want to play mahjong?"
"Sure!" Wang Xiaoyan replied as she set her backpack down.
Zhu Yihuang swept the floor with a mop while Wang Xiaoyan laid out a play mat on the ground. Cheng Xin brought over a small table, and Wei Yu carried a bag of mahjong tiles.

Wei Yu laughed, "Sure, then I'll just push you down!"
Wei Yu was very beautiful, with exquisite features and fair skin; her laughter sounded like a sweet silver bell.
Cheng Xin teased, "I wouldn't dare! I'm afraid Hao Ge would beat me up!"
