In the following days, Mu Yunze studied with Chu Mohan every day. Chu Mohan's explanations were clear and engaging, which opened Mu Yunze's mind to new concepts. His performance in advanced mathematics improved dramatically, filling him with gratitude towards Chu Mohan.
However, alongside his gratitude, there was an inexplicable flutter in his heart. He admired the way Chu Mohan earnestly explained things, cherished her gentle smiles that appeared so effortlessly, and appreciated the serene aura she exuded.
This feeling was entirely different from his infatuation with Han Jincheng. With Han Jincheng, he felt passion and desire; but with Chu Mohan, he experienced tranquility and comfort.
One evening, as Mu Yunze and Chu Mohan exited the library, the night had deepened. The campus was quiet, illuminated only by the soft glow of streetlights.
"Thank you, Chu Mohan. Without you, I would have definitely failed this exam," Mu Yunze said sincerely.
"No need to thank me; it's only right for us to help each other in our studies," Chu Mohan replied softly.
Walking side by side along the tree-lined path, the atmosphere felt a bit delicate. Mu Yunze gathered his courage to confess his feelings to Chu Mohan but hesitated, unsure of how to begin.
Just as Mu Yunze parted his lips to speak, a figure suddenly rushed past them and bumped into Chu Mohan. She gasped as her books scattered across the ground.
"Oh, I'm so sorry!" a sweet voice exclaimed.
Mu Yunze and Chu Mohan looked up to see Su Wanqing, the roommate of the class flower. She bent down to help gather the books, an apologetic smile on her face.
"It's fine, really," Chu Mohan said gently.
As Su Wanqing picked up one of the books and caught sight of its title, a subtle smirk appeared on her lips. "Advanced Mathematics? It seems like you and Mu Yunze are studying quite seriously."
Chu Mohan's face flushed slightly. "We're just helping each other."
Su Wanqing shot a meaningful glance at Mu Yunze. "Mu Yunze, you're really lucky to have such a beautiful study partner helping you out."
Feeling a bit flustered, Mu Yunze stammered, "Uh, yes, Chu Mohan is very good at studying."
Su Wanqing stood up and brushed off her clothes. Seemingly casually, she said to Chu Mohan, "I heard that the class flower hasn't been feeling well lately. As her best friend, you should really try to cheer her up." With that, she turned and walked away, leaving behind an enigmatic silhouette.
Chu Mohan's expression shifted slightly as a hint of worry flashed in her eyes. Noticing her unease, Mu Yunze asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
Chu Mohan shook her head. "It's nothing. Let's head back."
In the following days, Mu Yunze sensed that Chu Mohan seemed somewhat distracted. She often gazed out of the window in a daze, her eyes filled with concern. Several times he wanted to ask her what was bothering her but she always skillfully changed the subject.
One afternoon in the cafeteria, Mu Yunze noticed Su Wanqing sitting alone in a corner. After hesitating for a moment, he decided to approach her.
"Su Wanqing, can I talk to you for a moment?"
Su Wanqing looked up in surprise. "Of course! What’s on your mind?"
