Qin Shaoming's voice was low and hoarse, tinged with a hint of barely concealed panic and impatience, a stark contrast to the gentle sweetness it had just moments before. "What are you doing here?"
His cold gaze swept over Mu Yunze and Han Jincheng's tightly clasped hands, filled with anger and jealousy, as if he could ignite flames with his stare. He paused for a few seconds, his tone laced with questioning and doubt. "Jin Cheng, when did you get a new boyfriend? What about me? What do I count for?"
Mu Yunze observed the man before him with an impassive expression. He noted that Qin Shaoming was dressed in high-end brands; from his leather jacket to his shoes, every piece was expensive. His hairstyle was meticulously arranged, clearly well-groomed. Mu Yunze thought to himself that this man was obviously a pampered rich kid.
Han Jincheng suddenly yanked her hand away from Mu Yunze's grasp, as if she had touched something scalding. She took a deep breath and spoke firmly, "Qin Shaoming, we broke up a long time ago. Who I’m with is none of your business!"
"Broke up?" Qin Shaoming seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world, his tone dripping with sarcasm and disbelief. "When did we break up? How come I didn’t know?"
"Jin Cheng, stop pretending. You toyed with my feelings and now you've found a new target. Is it that once you get bored, you just switch to someone else?" He stepped closer to Han Jincheng, his voice growing more agitated. "What do you take me for? A plaything that you can summon and dismiss at will?"
Qin Shaoming's voice echoed along the tree-lined path, drawing the attention of several onlookers nearby. Some students began to whisper among themselves, curiously observing the three of them. Han Jincheng's face turned even paler; she bit her lip, seemingly struggling to contain her emotions.
Seeing this, Mu Yunze stepped forward to shield Han Jincheng, meeting Qin Shaoming's gaze calmly. "Please calm down. Jin Cheng has made it very clear that you two have broken up."
"And who are you?" Qin Shaoming looked Mu Yunze up and down with disdain in his voice. "What right do you have to interfere in our matters?"
"I’m her boyfriend," Mu Yunze replied firmly, standing his ground.
"Boyfriend?" Qin Shaoming scoffed. "Who do you think you are? Do you think you're worthy of her?"
Han Jincheng's complexion grew pale as she bit her lip, fighting back tears. "Qin Shaoming, that's enough! It's over between us; please stop harassing me!"
"Over? Did I say it was over?" Qin Shaoming grabbed Han Jincheng's wrist forcefully, pulling her close to him. "Jin Cheng, have you forgotten our vows? Have you forgotten the wonderful times we shared?"
Mu Yunze watched coldly from the side, his disdain for Han Jincheng growing stronger. He had initially felt some affection for her, but now it seemed there were deeper issues at play. He smirked derisively and said, "Look here, since she’s made it clear that it's over, why don’t you just let it go? Isn’t it better to part on good terms?"
Qin Shaoming turned his head sharply, glaring fiercely at Mu Yunze. "Who do you think you are to meddle in my affairs?"
Mu Yunze shrugged nonchalantly, wearing an indifferent expression. "What am I? I’m her current boyfriend. And what about you? What are you?" He deliberately emphasized the words "current boyfriend," his tone filled with provocation.
Qin Shaoming’s expression darkened further as he pointed at Mu Yunze, gritting his teeth in anger. "Him? A penniless loser? You're with him? Han Jincheng, have you lost your mind?"
