Han Jincheng spoke softly, with a barely noticeable tremor in her voice, recounting her story with Qin Shaoming. She detailed everything—from their innocent beginnings in high school, his sweet words and lavish pursuits, to the anger and heartbreak she felt upon discovering he was juggling multiple relationships, and finally, his relentless pursuit of her.
Mu Yunze listened quietly, occasionally sipping his coffee, his expression remaining largely unchanged. When Han Jincheng finished speaking, he simply responded with a faint "oh." This reaction surprised Han Jincheng; she had expected him to be angry, to question her, or even to storm off.
"Don't you have anything to say?" Han Jincheng asked tentatively, feeling anxious inside.
Mu Yunze shrugged and feigned nonchalance. "What is there to say? The past is the past. There are plenty of scumbags out there." He paused for a moment, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "Besides, you’ve already found me as your current boyfriend, haven’t you?"
Han Jincheng's cheeks flushed slightly as she looked down and mumbled, "Who said you were my boyfriend?"
Seeing her shy demeanor made Mu Yunze chuckle inwardly. This woman was clearly delighted but pretended otherwise. He reached out and gently pinched her cheek, his tone affectionate. "Alright, I understand what you mean. Don’t worry; with me around, he won’t dare to bother you again."
Mu Yunze didn’t think too much about it; after all, Han Jincheng’s first time had indeed been with him. He believed that her relationship with Qin Shaoming was merely that of exes—nothing more.
Han Jincheng lifted her gaze to meet Mu Yunze's eyes. A flicker of gratitude shone within them as she appreciated his willingness to stand up for her and be her protector.
But that gratitude quickly shifted into a mischievous glimmer, like stars twinkling in the night sky. "Since you say that," she teased playfully, elongating her words slightly with a hint of a smile at the corners of her mouth, "as my protector, shouldn’t you show some appreciation?"
Mu Yunze raised an eyebrow and responded with interest, "Oh? How do you want me to show it?" His eyes sparkled with amusement as he awaited her answer.
Han Jincheng's eyes darted around as if contemplating some clever idea. After a moment, she grinned widely and said, "How about treating me to a fancy dinner?" She paused deliberately to gauge Mu Yunze's reaction before adding, "Or maybe accompanying me shopping for clothes?" Her tone carried a hint of playful coaxing that was hard to refuse.
Mu Yunze sighed dramatically but couldn’t hide the fondness in his voice. "I knew you would make such a request." He shook his head as if resigned to her insatiable desires.
Then he shifted gears and said, "Alright then, who told me I had to deal with a little vixen like you?" A smile full of affection spread across his face as his eyes sparkled with fondness for her.
Han Jincheng felt a surge of joy at his helpless yet affectionate expression; she knew he wouldn’t turn down her request.
"Then it's settled!" Han Jincheng declared playfully as she extended her pinky finger.
