Chu Mohan couldn't help but laugh at his teasing words, her tears turning into smiles as she playfully punched Mu Yunze's chest. "You're so annoying, always bullying me," she pouted. The sadness of their parting was significantly lightened by Mu Yunze's jokes, and a sweet atmosphere lingered in the air.
Mu Yunze affectionately ruffled her hair and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Just wait for me to come back."
"Okay!" Chu Mohan nodded vigorously, forcing a bright smile as she watched Mu Yunze turn towards the ticket gate.
He waved goodbye, his tall figure gradually disappearing into the crowd. Chu Mohan stood there, her gaze fixed on the direction he had vanished until she could no longer see him.
The announcement for the train's imminent departure echoed through the station, and Mu Yunze's silhouette reappeared by the window. He waved at Chu Mohan, a warm smile gracing his face.
Chu Mohan waved back with all her might, mouthing "Safe travels."
The train slowly began to move, letting out a long whistle as it picked up speed and left the platform. Chu Mohan stood rooted to the spot, reluctant to leave, her eyes following the train until its shadow faded from view.
The sound of the train gradually faded away, much like the fleeting sweet memories of Mu Yunze. Returning to school felt like everything was back on track, yet Mu Yunze's mindset had quietly changed. He and Chu Mohan spent their days chatting on the phone, sharing snippets of their lives, and their love nourished him, making him radiate with joy.
Time flew by, and soon it was time for their junior year to begin. After a summer spent reveling in youth, everyone returned to campus, each carrying subtle changes.
Mu Yunze noticed a shift in Class Flower. The once proud Lin Shu Yao now seemed solitary and lost, her eyes reflecting an unshakeable melancholy. She was no longer the center of attention in the crowd and even avoided eye contact with others, especially with Mu Yunze.
The change in Class Flower was not without reason. Ever since Ye Jingtai toyed with her emotions, she had fallen apart. Initially attentive and sweet-talking, Ye Jingtai had led her to believe she had found true love.
She naively thought that Ye Jingtai viewed love as a game just like she did, only to discover that in this game, she was the only loser. After she became pregnant, Ye Jingtai revealed his true colors: "It was just a fling; you didn’t take it seriously, did you?" He cast her into despair.
After the abortion, Class Flower suffered both physically and mentally. She took a semester off from school, missing many classes and watching her grades plummet. Once an academic star, she now struggled just to graduate.
She no longer laughed or dressed up; instead, she buried herself in piles of books every day in an attempt to catch up on missed lessons. She resembled an injured little beast, licking its wounds while enduring pain alone.
Class Flower hid in a corner of the library, the dim yellow light casting shadows on her gaunt face, making her look even more haggard. Thick textbooks lay open before her, yet she couldn't comprehend a single word.
Ye Jingtai's ghostly presence haunted her mind; his flippant words pierced her heart like a sharp knife, repeatedly inflicting pain. She covered her face as silent tears slipped through her fingers.
