Mu Yunze looked at the two girls in front of him, a warm feeling surging in his heart. Once, he had been so introverted and shy that even speaking in front of a crowd would make him blush. Now, he had developed such bold ideas, wanting to create a venture of his own. What touched him even more was that these two girls had unhesitatingly chosen to stand behind him, offering their unwavering support.
In the days that followed, the three of them began to work hard towards their shared goal. Mu Yunze was responsible for the overall planning and operation of the company, Han Jincheng utilized family resources to seek investments, while Chu Mohan took charge of technical development and team building.
They named the company Ze Chenghan Technology. Although the name seemed a bit straightforward, all three agreed that it represented their dreams and hard work. Mu Yunze had never experienced the harsh realities of society before; during the company's initial stages, various trivial matters overwhelmed him.
Business registration, tax filings, and office space leasing felt like mountains pressing down on him, making it hard to breathe. Although Han Jincheng had invested startup funds, he was clueless about these specific affairs and could only fret anxiously. Chu Mohan, on the other hand, displayed remarkable execution skills, organizing tasks clearly and even handling the company's design single-handedly.
One day, as Mu Yunze sighed over a mountain of bills, Li Haoyu staggered in with two bottles of beer in hand. "Hey, isn't this our General Mu? Why the long face? If I didn't know better, I'd think your company was going under!"
Mu Yunze shot him an annoyed glance. "What do you know? Starting a business isn't that easy."
Li Haoyu plopped down across from him and opened a beer, handing one to Mu Yunze. "I heard you really started a company. Impressive! So bold! How about I lend a hand?"
Mu Yunze perked up at this. "You? What can you do?"
Li Haoyu took a swig of beer and wiped his mouth. "I may not have much else going for me, but I have connections! I know quite a few big shots in the investment circle; maybe I can help you pull in some funding."
And so, Li Haoyu joined their fledgling team. Although he appeared carefree, his connections proved valuable as he indeed brought in several angel investors. With this influx of capital, Ze Chenghan Technology finally got on track.
The initial business direction was to develop a campus social app. Chu Mohan led the technical team in round-the-clock development while Han Jincheng handled promotion efforts, with Mu Yunze coordinating everything. Li Haoyu leveraged his social skills to promote their app far and wide.
In the early days after launching online, user numbers were dismally low. Mu Yunze was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, constantly muttering about user growth, retention rates, and conversion rates—terms that made Li Haoyu's head spin.
"Hey Mu Yunze," Li Haoyu said with a cigarette dangling from his lips and legs crossed casually. "Can you stop reciting your mantras? It’s making my head buzz."
"You still have time to smoke! This is our venture!" Mu Yunze glared at him in frustration.
"What's the rush? Good wine needs no bush," Li Haoyu replied lazily while blowing out smoke rings. "But if it’s too deep in the alley, we need to find a way for people to smell it."
True to his nature as a social butterfly, Li Haoyu contacted some friends from school clubs and organized a promotional event for Ze Chenghan Technology on campus. At the event, he showcased his eloquence and attracted many students to download and register.
Chu Mohan also revealed her tech-savvy side by continuously optimizing features and enhancing user experience. Han Jincheng utilized his public relations skills to connect with campus media for promotional coverage.
Thanks to their collective efforts, Ze Chenghan Technology finally gained traction on campus. Download numbers soared and user engagement increased significantly.
Seeing the rising statistics, Mu Yunze finally breathed a sigh of relief. He treated his team members to a celebratory feast for their first small victory together. During the meal, Han Jincheng raised his glass with a radiant smile: "To our dreams!"
"To Ze Chenghan Technology!" everyone cheered in unison.
After the company got back on track, Mu Yunze gradually began to showcase his leadership abilities. No longer indecisive as he once was, he became resolute, able to make quick decisions and lead his team through one challenge after another.
As the company thrived, Mu Yunze felt an increasing emptiness within him. This emptiness did not stem from his career but from his emotions.
Han Jincheng's passion burned like fire, while Chu Mohan's gentleness flowed like water; these two contrasting affections enveloped him. He greedily enjoyed this double happiness but also feared that this beautiful bubble would eventually burst. He found it impossible to let go of either one.
Han Jincheng was his partner on the entrepreneurial journey, accompanying him through the toughest times. Her smile dispelled the gloom in his heart like sunshine. Chu Mohan was the harbor for his soul, offering him the gentlest comfort when he was weary. Her gaze shone like the brightest star in the night sky, guiding him forward.
“Mu Yunze, you look really tired lately; you need to take care of yourself,” Chu Mohan's gentle voice rang in his ears, laced with concern.
“It’s nothing; just a lot going on at the company,” Mu Yunze forced a smile, unable to meet her worried gaze.
“Don’t push yourself too hard; remember to balance work and rest,” Han Jincheng said as she approached, placing a cup of coffee in front of him. “I got this for you to help you stay awake.”
Seeing the concern in their eyes made Mu Yunze feel even guiltier. He felt like a greedy gambler, betting on two cards at once—winning double the stakes but also bearing double the risk.
He knew well that giving up either side would bring him unbearable pain. He had to find a balance, a way for all three of them to find happiness together, even if that balance seemed precarious, like a narrow bridge teetering on the edge of a cliff.
