The warm autumn sun accompanied by a gentle breeze made the entire forest picturesque. A few Orioles flitted up and down in the trees, while a squirrel stood on a branch holding a fruit, watching a person slowly walk along the path. Xu Yicheng had been walking for two days and nights. This road seemed to have no end.
Xu Yicheng felt a bit desperate as he sat on a fallen tree. He rummaged through his bag and found that it was once filled with grilled fish given to him by Aibo, but now only a lonely skewer remained. He took it out, glanced at it, swallowed hard, and stuffed the Fish Skewers back into his bag. He gazed at the sky with a sense of melancholy.
The forest was eerily quiet. Xu Yicheng felt as if the trees around him had eyes watching him. "I should keep going; maybe if I walk a bit further, I'll reach the end," he thought, resting for more than ten minutes before getting up to set off again.
Time passed slowly, and before long, it was noon. Xu Yicheng, drenched in sweat, just wanted to find a place to sit and rest for a while. He leaned against a stone wall and walked forward slowly. Suddenly, his hand touched empty air; he looked up and saw that there was a cave nearby! It was quite large, estimated to be five meters high. Xu Yicheng felt pleasantly surprised and was about to enter the cave to rest when he heard footsteps coming from the other side of the mountain path.
Confused, Xu Yicheng nervously stared ahead. The person on the opposite side seemed to have already heard the noise; what came out first was not a person but the barrel of a gun, startling Xu Yicheng.
Three people emerged from around the corner. The leader pointed his gun at Xu Yicheng and said, "Hey, there's still someone in this deep mountain forest. Hand over some stuff; we have things to talk about." The robbers glared at Xu Yicheng menacingly.
Xu Yicheng raised his hands cautiously and said, "Big brother, I really don't have anything on me."
"Who are you trying to fool? Bring me his bag."
The other two stepped forward and took Xu Yicheng's bag away. When they opened it, they found only one grilled Fish Skewer inside.
"Alright, you told the truth," the leader said as he raised the gun to Xu Yicheng's head. "Then keeping you alive isn't worth much anymore, right? After all, in this place, only we tomb raiders will know where you die."
"Please, please don't! I'm innocent..." Xu Yicheng's legs went weak as he begged for mercy.
"Wait a minute," one of the younger men seemed to recognize something. "This guy looks like that missing physicist Xu Yicheng who's been trending recently!"
"Is that true?" The leader lowered his gun and scrutinized Xu Yicheng.
Xu Yicheng didn't dare speak anymore.
"How about this: let's take him with us; he might fetch a good price," the leader laughed heartily as he grabbed Xu Yicheng's arm. "Come on, I was just joking with you; who kills someone for no reason?"
The leader noticed that the expressions of the two younger men were off and asked curiously, "What's wrong?"
"Boss, look behind..." both younger men said in unison. The leader and Xu Yicheng turned around simultaneously and were instantly frozen in shock.
A Stone Giant slowly emerged from the darkness of the cave. Its body was made of yellowish stones interwoven with flowing purple lines.
Most strikingly, it had four arms.
Each of its steps was deafening and suffocating. Mie Litter coldly stared at the four men with an enchanting smile as he extended his four arms to grab them in shock. By the time those three regained their senses and began screaming for help in his grasp, they were already pulled back into the cave. Xu Yicheng did not scream; he suddenly remembered the four-armed giant that Aibo had drawn for him, and an overwhelming sense of fear surged within him.
"Ah!" The four people were thrown to the ground by Mie Litter. Mie Litter leaned down, watching the four struggle to get up like ants. Xu Yicheng raised his face and noticed that he was surrounded by white, bony remains!
The other three also realized this.
"Oh my God, what is this..." one of the younger members screamed, his head tilting as he fainted from fright. Mie Litter checked his breath, confirmed he was alive, and suddenly punched him!
In an instant, blood and flesh flew everywhere; the person was smashed into a meat patty!
"Ah! My God!" Xu Yicheng trembled all over, repeatedly making the sign of the cross on his chest, "My God!"
In the distance of the cave, Aibo had been stealthily following Xu Yicheng from afar, hiding carefully to avoid being seen. Fortunately, Xu Yicheng did not look back at all.
After walking for a while, Aibo realized he could no longer see Xu Yicheng and decided to jump out from the trees above the small path, striding forward along the trail.
Within a few minutes, blood splattered on the ground, and a foul smell filled the entire cave, making one feel nauseous. The other two were also killed by Mie Litter. Xu Yicheng took out the stone Aibo had given him and frantically chanted Aibo's name in his heart.
"No matter what form you take, please show yourself quickly!" Xu Yicheng prayed.
At this moment, Mie Litter approached Xu Yicheng step by step, leaning down to prepare for the final kill.
"Wait! I know you can understand me. Listen to me... let me say a few words..." Xu Yicheng shouted incoherently. Mie Litter was indeed curious about what he would say and lowered his fist to look at Xu Yicheng.
Xu Yicheng said, "I know the origin of your race and I know the giant who created you. He... he..." Mie Litter leaned in closer, almost touching Xu Yicheng's eyes, and surprisingly asked him in Chinese, "Where is he?"
"Just follow this road for two days and nights, and you'll reach his camp!" Xu Yicheng pointed outside.
Suddenly, a shadow emerged; a Stone Giant walked into the cave. This Stone Giant was even taller than Mie Litter, with a black body covered in blue patterns. He stepped forward and glared at Mie Litter.
"Grandpa Yuan Zun?!" Mie Litter exclaimed in shock and quickly stepped back. "How did you find this place?"
"Are you eating people?!" Yuan Zun roared in anger. "This is utterly unforgivable! Too outrageous!" With that, he raised his fist and charged forward.
Mie Litter thought that since he had been discovered anyway, he might as well tear off the mask and confront Grandpa Yuan Zun. He shouted as he rushed up and punched Yuan Zun.
However, nothing happened; Yuan Zun's body was even penetrated by his punch.
"What’s going on? An illusion?" Mie Litter finally realized. He felt two arms suddenly gripping his neck tightly. Turning his head, he saw that Aibo had somehow circled behind him and was holding him in a chokehold.
"Let go of me!" Mie Litter grabbed Aibo's arms with all four of his hands, but Aibo's strength was far greater than his; Mie Litter couldn't break free at all.
"I am your elder after all; I have the right to manage your excessive behavior!" Aibo said as he tightened his grip again.
Xu Yicheng looked at them both in confusion. Finally, Mie Litter passed out from being choked. Aibo sighed with relief and gently laid Mie Litter on the ground before shaking out his arms. After a moment of daze, Xu Yicheng came back to himself and looked into Aibo's eyes saying, "I don't even know how to repay you; you've saved me three times already."
Aibo remained still as he gazed at Xu Yicheng: "Accompanying Aibo is... repayment. I need... to see Grandpa Yuan Zun." With that, Aibo picked up the unconscious Mie Litter and walked out of the cave.
Xu Yicheng shouted, "Then how can I accompany you?"
Aibo stopped. He knew it was unrealistic to keep Xu Yicheng by his side all the time. Aibo said, "If you need me, just think of me, and I'll be there."
A wave of inexplicable emotion surged in Xu Yicheng's heart. He watched Aibo run off into the distance and continued along the path.
At the Stone Giant camp, Yuan Zun and other giants were playing a game. They had made a set of cards from beast bones, with the status and rules entirely determined by Yuan Zun. As they were engrossed in their game, a familiar voice suddenly came from the entrance: "Grandpa Yuan Zun, I'm back."
Yuan Zun was startled by the voice. He looked towards the entrance, where Aibo was bringing back the already awakened Mie Litter underground. "Hmm? Weren't you exiled? How dare you come back! Don't you know your crimes are unforgivable? You cannot use the wand without my guidance! Don't you understand this yet?" Yuan Zun shouted.
"I understand, Grandpa Yuan Zun. I know my mistakes," Aibo stepped forward and pushed Mie Litter in front of the stone men. "But if my mistakes are unforgivable, what about his?"
Aibo conjured an illusion, restoring the place where Mie Litter had devoured people and showing them how he had subdued Mie Litter.
"What?!" All the stone men were stunned.
Yuan Zun believed Aibo's illusion because it was a power he had bestowed upon Aibo himself. Furious, Yuan Zun walked up to Mie Litter and kicked him to the ground: "You beast! I tried so hard to persuade you and guide you, and you repay us with such heinous acts! Ah!"
Mie Litter pressed his hands on the ground, staring at it as he said, "I just don't understand why we have to hide from humans. To me, they are nothing but our prey! Why should we—why should we—"
"There's no saving you!" Yuan Zun thought about casting a spell to end Mie Litter's life but stopped himself. "I declare Mie Litter is to be exiled; leave..."
"My name is Aibo," Aibo interjected.
"Leave Aibo! You can go fend for yourself in the outside world, Mie Litter." Yuan Zun turned away as several giants stepped forward and threw Mie Litter out of the cave entrance.
"You all... just wait," Mie Litter muttered quietly as he left the underground cave.
