In the bathtub, there lay a corpse.
The homeowner had chosen to emphasize a fresh overall feel, with all the items in the bathroom predominantly white.
The floor was covered in off-white non-slip tiles, the walls adorned with rose-white patterned ceramic tiles, and the frame of the wall-mounted mirror was a classic carved lily white. In the corner stood an ivory-white shelf, cluttered with bottles of shampoo and body wash, all carefully selected for their white packaging. The air was scented with jasmine, the shower curtain was a translucent misty white, and the bathtub itself was, of course, pure white.
Now, this once pristine bathroom, dominated by white tones, had turned into utter chaos: the mirror was cracked in a spiderweb pattern, clearly struck by something forceful; the shelf was tilted and toppled over, bottles rolling across the floor; the shower curtain had been ripped down and lay crumpled on the ground; the once clean walls and floor were splattered with thick crimson blood, so glaring it made one feel nauseous. Even the fragrance of jasmine could not mask the acrid stench of blood.
All this vivid color came from the corpse before me.
...I never imagined things would turn out this way.
It all started over something trivial... Yes, looking back now, it truly began with something insignificant.
At that moment, however, I did not perceive it as a "trivial matter." That incident had sent me into a furious rage; no matter how patiently that person tried to calm me down, I could not accept it and refused to listen to his explanations.
I stared silently at the bloodied murder weapon lying on the floor, glinting coldly, my body trembling slightly.
Initially, I had only intended to scare him a little... I truly never meant for it to escalate to this point!
Yet perhaps because I was so enraged at that time, I ended up losing control...
I never intended for this to happen!
Calling an ambulance? To be honest, at that moment, I had no awareness of that option.
Perhaps it was because everything happened so suddenly, the situation before me had spiraled beyond any sense of control. I could only stand there, frozen in place, silently watching the thick, crimson liquid flow everywhere, transforming the once pristine white bathroom into a scene that was utterly nauseating.
By the time I finally remembered I should do something, it was already too late...
It was too late.
Outside, the phone rang and my mobile chimed intermittently, but I remained oblivious, ignoring them completely.
The vibrant red on the floor gradually turned black with time.
I watched helplessly as the body in the bathtub shifted from limp to stiff and then back to slack again; that pure white dress was now stained with filthy remnants, looking utterly disheveled. The once smooth skin began to show signs of decay, emitting a foul odor, losing its former beauty and becoming increasingly grotesque...
I wondered, was it possible to go unnoticed like this?
Perhaps this corpse would remain in this chaotic bathroom, lying in this filthy tub until it completely rotted away, turning into nothing but bones...
Suddenly, a gasp shattered the silence of the space and interrupted my thoughts.
I turned around to see a man standing at the bathroom door, his face a mask of shock.
Then, without even glancing at me, he rushed past and toward the tub, lifting the body within it. His expression was one of deep sorrow as he cried out in anguish.
I stood in a daze, watching the scene before me as he repeatedly shouted that familiar name with all his might, my lips trembling slightly.
After a moment, I slowly stepped forward, my head bowed as I gazed at the lifeless body cradled in the man's arms.
"He clearly still loves you... Why on earth would you choose to do something so foolish? Idiot!" A bitter smile crept onto my lips, tinged with self-mockery.
I had only intended to scare him a little, but unexpectedly, it had all turned into a tragic reality...
It was all too late.
No matter how much regret I felt, it was already too late...
