"Is County Chief Lin Xiao in?" the Township Head of Mao Wei knocked on the door.

He had long mastered the art of concealing his emotions, smiling as he said, "I just happen to be delivering materials to the County Chief. Let me help you with that."
As Lin Xiao handed the materials to Li Hao, she mentioned, "County Chief, Ke Hongxin from Mao Wei Township wants to report on his work. He was just asked to leave the meeting by the Disciplinary Committee."
Summarizing work reports succinctly is an essential skill for an assistant secretary. Every time Lin Xiao entered Li Hao's office, she made sure to be fully alert, hoping to gain recognition from this decisive County Chief.
"What kind of person is he?" Li Hao asked, looking down at the documents.
Lin Xiao paused for ten seconds in thought. Ke Hongxin was a former deputy battalion commander who had transitioned into civilian roles, serving as the head of the Township's military affairs and later as Township Head. He had been working in the township for quite some time.
"If I wanted to know that, I wouldn't ask you; I'd have the Organization Minister come," Li Hao said, stopping his pen and looking sternly at Lin Xiao.
Feeling flustered by her superior's question, Lin Xiao's face turned red. This question was too broad; her personal standard was to keep her emotions hidden and not express likes or dislikes openly.
However, she knew that if she didn't answer honestly this time, Li Hao wouldn't trust her. How could she evaluate Ke Hongxin in a way that met Li Hao's expectations?
"His work ability is quite strong; he's smooth in dealings and has good drinking capacity, but his discipline leaves something to be desired. During the last poverty alleviation meeting, he even took phone calls," Lin Xiao quickly assessed Ke Hongxin objectively in her mind.
Li Hao placed the folder on the desk and said, "Let him come in!"
Lin Xiao had no idea what Li County Chief discussed with Ke Hongxin. When Ke Hongxin emerged from the County Chief's office, he had transformed from being cautious upon entering to wearing a serious expression—something rare since Lin Xiao had known him.
Lin Xiao realized that being an assistant secretary for Li Hao was actually much simpler than she had anticipated; she just needed to focus on her assigned tasks.
Li Hao would have receptions in the evening for provincial leaders visiting for inspections and exchanges with brother units. Considering that Lin Xiao was female, she was only responsible for arranging things at the front during these receptions; Luo Qianwei would accompany them. For rural working meals, Lin Xiao would dine with ordinary staff in a private room and then wait to return together.
From handling documents and County Chief's directives, Lin Xiao sensed that there was an undercurrent stirring within Yurou County.
