Gabriel stepped into the village shrouded in death, the air thick with the scent of decay that sent his demonic instincts into a frenzy.
In his eyes, the village was filled with souls wandering aimlessly.
Ordinary people might be terrified by such a sight, even fainting from fear.
Yet for Gabriel, these souls were the most tempting delicacies in existence.
"So fragrant, truly so fragrant," he whispered, his voice laced with uncontrollable excitement and greed.
No wonder demons craved human souls so desperately; they were indeed delicious. Just catching a whiff of a soul's essence made him tremble with anticipation.
"Now, you all belong to me!"
As he moved, the air around him began to warp. Above the silent corpses, wisps of pale mist flickered into existence—those were the lingering souls of the villagers.
The souls seemed to resist, writhing and struggling gently, but an invisible force was slowly drawing them toward Gabriel. These souls took on various forms; some coalesced into vague human shapes, bearing the fear and resentment from their lives; others drifted like smoke, emitting faint cries of sorrow.
Gabriel paid no mind to their struggles; his eyes were fixated on the souls, glimmering with a dark and eerie light, as if they were endless black holes in an abyss, determined to consume everything.
When the first soul was drawn into his body, Gabriel shuddered, a look of ecstasy spreading across his face.
"This is the soul of a human."
He murmured to himself, feeling the warm and powerful energy flowing within him.
The sensation was akin to a parched desert receiving much-needed rain, like a beggar who had gone three days without food suddenly enjoying a five-star feast, or like someone who hadn't slept for three days finally lying down on a comfortable bed.
It can only be described in the most beautiful language in the world.
Just as mice are obsessed with cheese, cats with fish, and dogs with bones, it is simply a matter of nature.
One after another, more and more souls rushed into his body like moths drawn to a flame. With each soul absorbed, his injuries healed a little more; his once pale skin gradually took on a rosy hue, and the dull scales regained their cold luster.
"Truly worthy of human souls; no wonder those demons keep coming back for more," Gabriel couldn't help but exclaim. Although these were merely the souls of ordinary people, their sheer number combined to create an astonishing effect.
It should be noted that the dozens of ordinary animal souls he had absorbed before did not compare to the nourishment provided by a single human soul.

With that, Gabriel chose to use the system to absorb the souls.

Gabriel lifted his head and gazed at the sky, silently resolving, "I must seize the time to plunder every resource."
He understood that once the demons launched a full-scale invasion, the more powerful ones would be at the forefront, and there would be no chance for him to claim human souls—such valuable treasures would be out of reach.
The most important thing now was to maximize resource utilization and then go on to plunder even more.
"System, upgrade! Allocate points!" Gabriel decisively spent all the Upgrade Points he had just acquired.
Only by becoming stronger could he gain more resources, which in turn would make him even stronger.
It was a positive cycle.
With Gabriel's command of "Allocate points," the Upgrade Points he had accumulated were consumed entirely.
