"You've come here, so naturally you should stay in the best room we have, the one at Mountain Peak. I'll have it cleaned immediately, Mr. Jiang. You can move in shortly," Lin Rumei said eagerly, trying to please him.
"Miss, the room at Mountain Peak has already been booked by Guo Shao. They are probably already checked in, and we can't just kick them out," the Hotel Manager interjected.
"Refund Guo Shao double the money and ask him to leave. If he refuses, throw him out," Lin Rumei said dismissively. Since Jiang Chen had arrived on Hong Kong Island, she was determined to cater to him, especially since she had something to ask of him—something only he could help her with.
"Uh, alright, I'll take care of it right away," the Hotel Manager replied, shocked and curious about Jiang Chen's background, wondering why his young mistress valued him so highly.
Meanwhile, Lin Jingzhu's classmates were already in awe of Jiang Chen. Initially, they thought he couldn't compare to Mark, but now they understood why Lin Jingzhu was fond of him. Jiang Chen was no ordinary person.
Mark, on the other hand, looked pale and defeated. He regretted inviting Jiang Chen along; he had thought Jiang Chen was just an ordinary person from a small county whom he could easily overshadow. Yet now, it seemed that Jiang Chen hadn’t even targeted him directly but had completely crushed him without leaving a trace.
Since Lin Rumei was being so accommodating, Jiang Chen naturally accepted her hospitality. The barbecue party continued with Lin Rumei joining in. However, her presence made the atmosphere noticeably tense; everyone felt hesitant to speak freely.
After the barbecue party ended, Lin Rumei personally led Jiang Chen to the Mountain Peak room, with Ding Yan following closely behind. As for Lin Jingzhu and her friends, it was getting late, and they returned to their rooms to rest.
The Mountain Peak room was spacious, akin to a presidential suite in a five-star hotel. With a glass ceiling overhead, one could lie in bed and gaze at the night sky—quite an interesting experience.
"Mr. Jiang, may I ask you for a favor?" Lin Rumei said hesitantly after settling Jiang Chen into the Mountain Peak room.
"Go ahead," Jiang Chen replied calmly.
"Tomorrow night, there’s a gathering of underground forces on Hong Kong Island. Many underground bigwigs will attend this event known as the Hongmen Banquet. They are uniting to pressure my father into handing over territory. I'm feeling uncertain about it; could you accompany me?" Lin Rumei asked cautiously.
"Then let's go see what it's about," Jiang Chen said.
"Thank you so much, Mr. Jiang!" Lin Rumei exclaimed joyfully. She hadn’t expected him to agree without hesitation; having Jiang Chen by her side gave her newfound confidence.
"Well then, Mr. Jiang, I won’t disturb your rest any longer. I’ll have breakfast sent over tomorrow morning," Lin Rumei said respectfully before leaving.
Once Lin Rumei departed, only Jiang Chen and Ding Yan remained in the room.
Meanwhile, in another room halfway up the mountain, Zhou Xuemei was urging Lin Jingzhu to find Jiang Chen.
"Jingzhu, don’t you feel any sense of urgency? Jiang Chen is surrounded by beautiful women; it looks like he’s going to spend the night with Miss Ding! That woman has such an amazing figure; even I’m tempted as a woman! What makes you think he shouldn’t be with her?" Zhou Xuemei said anxiously.
"I trust Jiang Chen," Lin Jingzhu replied with a slight smile.
"I don’t believe that! If you don’t listen to me now, you’ll definitely regret it later! Besides, it seems Miss Lin likes Jiang Chen too. What will you do then? There are too many competitors!" Zhou Xuemei lamented.
