Lin Rumei was also quite worried. Jiang Chen was exceptionally capable and unafraid of trouble, but Lin Rumei felt vulnerable. If things continued this way, she would eventually face assassination.
After returning to the Golden Coast Resort Hotel, Jiang Chen had already put the earlier incident out of his mind. The underground bosses from Hong Kong Island were insignificant in his eyes, and he had no intention of dwelling on them.
Ding Yan followed closely behind Jiang Chen, remaining silent throughout the journey. To be honest, Ding Yan was still in shock from what he had witnessed; it was his first time seeing Jiang Chen kill. Although Jiang Chen was no ordinary person, the decisiveness with which he took a life left even a seasoned assassin like Ding Yan feeling uneasy. In Jiang Chen's eyes, human life seemed as trivial as grass, and his method of killing astonished Ding Yan. Water could kill, fire could kill—such intricacies were truly remarkable.
Upon returning to the Golden Coast Resort Hotel, Zhou Xuemei and Lin Jingzhu had already come back. Jiang Chen joined them for dinner, after which Zhou Xuemei mentioned that her classmates wanted to tour the Mountain Peak room. Naturally, Jiang Chen did not refuse.
In the Mountain Peak room, Lin Jingzhu's classmates were excitedly taking photos and admiring the scenery. As for Mark, he felt too embarrassed to face Jiang Chen and claimed he was unwell, opting to rest in his own room.
“Jiang Chen, we’re heading back tomorrow afternoon,” Lin Jingzhu said as she approached him.
“I’ll be staying a few more days,” Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
“When can we see each other again?” Lin Jingzhu asked softly.
“We will meet again,” Jiang Chen assured her gently.
Lin Jingzhu looked at Jiang Chen and smiled brightly, nodding vigorously.
While Jiang Chen and Lin Jingzhu were chatting, Zhou Xuemei suddenly rushed over and bluntly asked, “Jiang Chen, I want to know—do you like Jingzhu?”
“Zhou Xuemei, what are you saying? Come on, let’s go,” Lin Jingzhu said anxiously as she pulled Zhou Xuemei away.
However, Zhou Xuemei resisted leaving, waiting for Jiang Chen’s answer.
Lin Jingzhu also wanted to know the answer but understood that Jiang Chen couldn’t give it to her at that moment.
“This is between me and Jingzhu; you don’t need to ask,” Jiang Chen said with a slight smile.
“Jingzhu likes you; don’t let her down,” Zhou Xuemei insisted.
“Don’t worry about it. Jingzhu, it’s getting late; you should take your classmates back to rest,” Jiang Chen said. Zhou Xuemei was indeed difficult to deal with, so he had no choice but to usher them out.
After Lin Jingzhu and the others left, the room finally fell silent.
The night passed without incident. The next morning, Lin Rumei came to see Jiang Chen.
“How did it go?” Jiang Chen asked.
“Mr. Jiang, those people are quite stubborn. Although you intimidated them yesterday, getting them to obey will still be challenging,” Lin Rumei replied candidly. This matter was indeed complicated; people would die for wealth just as birds would perish for food—this truth had remained unchanged throughout history. Cutting off their financial resources would likely lead them to disregard even death threats.
"Take your time. Even wild beasts can be tamed. Those who are disobedient, no matter how unruly, can they really compare to wild beasts?" Jiang Chen said.
"I'm afraid that if we push them too hard, they might lash out recklessly," Lin Rumei said with concern.
"You're just worried about becoming the target of everyone's ire, aren't you? Don't worry. Later, find me a good piece of jade or a magical artifact; I can help you make a protective talisman. With that talisman, no one can harm you—not even bullets or explosives will touch you," Jiang Chen reassured her.
"Then thank you very much, Mr. Jiang," Lin Rumei exclaimed joyfully. With her safety assured, she felt a weight lifted off her shoulders.
