I smiled at her, "Not good? How is it not good?" 0
"You’re a girl, shy. I’m a boy, so I should take the initiative, right?" 0
Yan Chengcheng's face turned even redder, and I felt even happier. 0
She lowered her head, her voice very soft, "When did you find out?" 0
I sighed, "Actually, I suspected it for a long time." 0
"Even though you all look different, the essence can't be hidden." 0
"I was really angry when you left without saying goodbye." 0
"I went to school to find you, deliberately hanging around in front of you, but you acted like you didn’t know me." 0
"I felt so miserable at that moment; I thought all your kindness was fake." 0
"But I couldn't accept that. I wanted you to come out on your own." 0
I stopped and looked at Yan Chengcheng, "Back then, when I was lost, it was you who helped me." 0
"Now, it's my turn to help you." 0
Tears streamed down Yan Chengcheng's face again, and I reached out to wipe them away. 0
"Hey, stop crying; your face is all messed up." 0
She blinked her eyes, "I’m not crying." 0
I laughed and pinched her cheek, "Alright then, you’re not crying; I must have seen it wrong." 0
"Look quickly, what’s that?" I suddenly pointed behind her. As Yan Chengcheng turned around, I took the chance to give her a quick kiss on the cheek. 0
Yan Chengcheng covered the spot where I kissed her and stared at me with wide eyes. 0
I opened my arms and pulled her into an embrace. "Now you can’t run away." 0
"Yan Chengcheng, the last thorn in your heart has been pulled out painfully; from now on, I’ll protect you." 0
The first time I met Yan Chengcheng was at the orphanage. Madam Ye said she would find me a companion to grow up with. 0
They said it was for companionship; in reality, they couldn’t have children and were afraid I would take their wealth away. 0

I wandered aimlessly around the orphanage, unsure of what my future held. If it weren't for my mother's death, I might have ended up here myself. My mother had a job that many would look down upon, and before she passed, she left me a note. She said she hadn't intended to take that path; she had been deceived. She didn't even know who my father was, only leaving me contact information for a dozen or so men, telling me that any of them could be my dad. 0

To avoid being sent to the orphanage, I started calling the numbers on the note. The last one was for the Ye Family. 0

Lost in thought, I suddenly found myself face to face with Yan Chengcheng. 0

"Are you new here?" she asked. 0

I glanced at her; she looked two or three years older than me. 0

"I'm Yan Chengcheng," she introduced herself. 0

"Shang Haoran," I replied. 0

I had a cut on the back of my hand from accidentally scraping it. It didn’t hurt much, but Yan Chengcheng took it seriously and gently blew on it. 0

"Come with me," she said. 0

Yan Chengcheng led me to the infirmary and had me sit on a stool. She took out some disinfectant supplies and began to clean my wound. Despite being younger and not as strong, she tugged at the skin around my injury, causing me some pain. 0

"I've never done this before, so it might hurt a little. Just bear with me," she said cautiously as she disinfected and bandaged my cut. 0

This was the first time someone had cared for me like this. I felt a bit awkward and even somewhat anxious. 0

"It's nothing," I said coldly, pulling my hand away from hers. "Just a small injury, I'm not that delicate." 0

"You really need to change your temper; otherwise, you'll end up suffering in the future," she said seriously and sincerely. 0

"How do you know all this?" I shifted the topic. 0

"My parents are gone. Sometimes I have to bandage myself," Yan Chengcheng said calmly. 0

"Your parents..." 0

"Yeah, a car accident. There's nothing that can be done; they won't come back," she replied with a sense of acceptance, but I could feel a deep sadness within her. 0

"Were you left behind by your mother?" Yan Chengcheng changed the subject. 0

"I suppose so. My mom remarried and didn't want me anymore." I looked down at my toes. 0
