Time rewinds once more.
On November 5th, Liu Ru Yan came to meet Hu Ruoyun again, this time at the Xiangli Family restaurant.
In the private room, Liu Ru Yan formally introduced Hu Ruoyun and the beautiful woman accompanying her: "This is my assistant, Luo Qi. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Sichuan Media College... I recruited her from the Cultural Bureau of Jiang City! And this is Hu Ruoyun, currently studying for a diploma in Han Language and Literature at Jiangbei University."
Hu Ruoyun joked, "Sister Liu, without comparison, there’s no harm done..."
Liu Ru Yan chuckled proudly, "I’m not trying to put you down; I just wanted to show off a little..."
As the dishes were served, the three began to discuss serious matters while eating.
Liu Ru Yan stated that she planned to rent the entire ninth floor of a building on Jincheng Avenue No. 9 in Jiang City as her office space. She was in the process of registering Jiangcheng Liu's Food Co., Ltd. and Jiangcheng Liu's Cultural Education Investment Company.
After sharing her plans, she asked Hu Ruoyun, "Lai Wen insisted that I hear your Opinions and Suggestions, so here I am seeking your advice!"
Hu Ruoyun set down her chopsticks and replied, "Sister Lai, I’m not well-versed in company operations, but I do have one suggestion that I hope you’ll take seriously."
Lai Wen and Luo Qi both became attentive.
Hu Ruoyun continued, "In April 1980, the state proposed housing system reforms, marking the beginning of the commercialization of housing. In 1990, the three-three system for employees was abolished; buyers had to pay the full price of their homes. This year, further reforms were proposed regarding urban housing systems and a comprehensive housing provident fund was established. Although these reforms mainly target existing public housing, marketization of housing has become inevitable. With the rapid development of the economy, housing prices will inevitably experience a prolonged period of increase.
You might want to have your finance team calculate whether the current rent multiplied by several years would be sufficient to cover the cost of a one-time investment in purchasing property. Additionally, there’s also a possibility of rent increases during those years."
Liu Ru Yan was already involved in investments but was still unfamiliar with the domestic environment and policies. Upon hearing Hu Ruoyun’s analysis, she immediately recognized the core issue and instructed Luo Qi: "Isn’t the lease contract supposed to be signed next week? Notify the landlord that we’re not renting anymore... They surely wouldn’t want to lose us as a major tenant; we can negotiate later when they come back to us..."
Hu Ruoyun teased her: "That really proves that saying..."
Liu Ru Yan and Luo Qi both asked in unison, "What saying?"
Hu Ruoyun took a bite of food and replied, "There’s no business without deceit!" Before she could finish her sentence, she quickly dodged Liu Ru Yan's outstretched Nine Yin White Bone Claw.
After finishing their meal, Liu Ru Yan wouldn’t let Hu Ruoyun leave just yet and called for a pot of tea: "Let me borrow your ID for a moment."
Hu Ruoyun was puzzled: "What do you need my ID for?"
Liu Ru Yan said seriously, "I won’t go into details about my cultural education company; I have several friends investing in it. I’m planning to give you 5% shares in my food company to tie you to my venture and let your brain help me create wealth!"
Hu Ruoyun declined: "No free lunch; I don’t want your shares."
Liu Ru Yan exchanged glances with Luo Qi: "Hey, Lai Wen really hit the nail on the head."
Then she turned back to Hu Ruoyun: "You know, your suggestion about buying instead of renting might save me a lot of money... Don’t worry; I won’t ask you to invest or clock in at my place. I just hope you can help me brainstorm ideas or provide feedback when necessary."
Hu Ruoyun still refused, saying, "Even in this situation, I can still talk to you, offer ideas, and provide suggestions!"
Seeing Hu Ruoyun's stubbornness, Liu Ru Yan exclaimed in English, "Rotten wood cannot be carved!" Then she stood up and called out to Luo Qi, "Let's go; she's as stubborn as a piece of wood."
Early the next morning, Hu Ruoyun received a call from Mao Na. "What are you doing with my ID? You didn't even tell me in advance! Did you really have to send Liu Jie to pick it up so late at night?"
Hu Ruoyun forced a smile. "Did you give her your ID?"
Mao Na replied, "I did! She said it was for you, so I gave it to her!"
Hu Ruoyun sighed inwardly: People dedicated to their careers are truly relentless.
In mid-November, Liu Ru Yan, the "head" of Liu's Food Co., Ltd. and Liu's Cultural Education Investment Company, officially contacted Hu Ruoyun. She informed him that the licenses for both companies had been obtained and that both entities held shares in Hu Ruoyun's name (under Mao Na's name), with the former accounting for 3% and the latter for 1%.
This Chinese woman, who exhibited a Western-style obsession with business, said, "There’s a saying in China: 'In business, speak of business.' This is what we call intellectual investment! I must adhere to the '811 principle'." (This principle dictates that if a business earns ten yuan, eight yuan should go to stakeholders, one yuan should be allocated to those who contribute nearby, and only one yuan remains for the individual.)
She also informed Hu Ruoyun that she had prepared a plan and would formally discuss educational cooperation with Annan. This initiative was not limited to Annan or Eight Middle School but aimed at all senior high schools outside of Annan County City!
She had already secured recognition and approval from the leaders and educational management departments of Jiangbei Province and was confident that they would reach an agreement.
With great confidence, she told Hu Ruoyun, "From Jinan City to Annan County, no matter which department or position they hold, anyone who dares to obstruct this will find themselves 'removed' first!"
Hu Ruoyun was left speechless: Sister, this is about building a career, not engaging in conflict!
He patiently advised her for quite some time, discussing ancestral wisdom about harmony bringing wealth and Confucian ideals of moderation. He emphasized that in business one must follow market rules and even touched upon the transition from planned economy to market economy… until he was interrupted by Liu Ru Yan's laughter. "Hahaha… Not bad! Just for these remarks alone, I don't feel like I'm losing by giving you shares..."
This woman was sharper than a monkey!
She had hired a team of experts at a high salary. Once negotiations yielded results, her team would enhance Eight Middle School in Annan County across management, faculty, hardware, and more—creating an educational brand that would influence the entire southeastern region of Jiangbei Province.
As they were parting ways, she asked Hu Ruoyun, "I have high hopes for your Teacher Wang. What position do you think would suit him? Vice Principal or Director of Studies?"
Hu Ruoyun immediately shook his head. "No way! Teacher Wang is just like me—a scholar who talks rather than acts; he doesn't possess the ability or level to stand on his own!"
Liu Ru Yan paused her steps. "Do you really think so?"
Hu Ruoyun replied without hesitation, "Of course! It's important to have self-awareness. Besides, Teacher Wang has been my homeroom teacher for three years; I know exactly what kind of person he is!"
Liu Ru Yan seemed pleased. "Great minds think alike!"
This woman had an underlying sharpness in her words; Hu Ruoyun felt somewhat shallow in her presence.
"Assistant Principal! I'm planning to hire him as the Assistant Principal of our newly established school!" Liu Ru Yan declared decisively.
This location really seems to be quite suitable for Teacher Wang.
