My father-in-law immediately scowled. "It's the New Year; pay attention!"
Fearing reprimand, Sister-in-law dared not argue further.
My mother-in-law sarcastically remarked, "Now you're quite sharp-tongued!"

I pretended to pout in grievance. "Mom, I was just speaking the truth..."
My mother-in-law's face turned ashen with anger. "I'm hungry; go make dinner."
"And wash all the vegetables in the kitchen."
I turned to the Sister-in-law sitting on the sofa eating potato chips. "Mom, let Xiao Qi do it."
The Sister-in-law's expression changed. "Why should I do it?"
"You stay at home eating all day; it's time you did something to show respect to Parents."
Both my mother-in-law and the Sister-in-law were taken aback, probably not expecting me to stand up for myself this time.
I sneered, "Mom, you always say that women should take care of the family."
