In the end, Chen Haotian set his sights on a Samoyed. It was fluffy and white, especially adorable. The moment I saw it, I instantly fell in love.
Chen Haotian smiled at me and asked, "Do you like this little dog?" I nodded enthusiastically, "Yes!" He continued to smile and said, "Then let's buy it and take it home."
I was overjoyed. I had always wanted a puppy! Unfortunately, Chu Jun had never agreed. She even said that if I got a dog, I wouldn't be allowed to stay with her anymore! But now, I could finally have a puppy without any restrictions from Chu Jun! I was absolutely thrilled!
After Chen Haotian and I brought the puppy home, we named it Little Cake. It was particularly obedient and understanding, always sticking close to me. I adored it as well. Every night, I would cuddle with it while sleeping. Little Cake loved me too; it would lick my cheeks every day. I was completely smitten!
Chen Haotian and I lived a peaceful life together. He had a gentle personality and could cook. Every day, he would prepare dinner and wait for me to come home.
He often buys me little gifts and occasionally tells me jokes. Aside from insisting that I get up every morning, he is practically the perfect husband.
One day, I was in my room binge-watching a show when suddenly the room went completely dark. I thought the circuit had tripped and was about to get up to check when I heard Chen Haotian call out to me.
“Don’t move.”
I asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
He walked in mysteriously, holding a cake with several candles on it. There was also a bouquet of flowers and Little Cake, who was tied with a bow.
I was stunned. “This…”
He gently said, “Wife, happy birthday.”
I froze, realizing that today was my birthday. I had been so busy lately that I had completely forgotten.
He softly urged, “Make a wish.”
I nodded, made my wish, and then blew out the candles. Just as I finished making my wish, he suddenly knelt on one knee.
I was taken aback. “What are you doing?”
He pulled out a ring box and said earnestly, “Shi Ran, will you marry me?”
I was shocked. “Aren’t we already married?”
He smiled gently. “Yes.”
“But we rushed into our marriage back then.”
“So today I want to propose to you properly.”
My eyes welled up with tears, almost making me cry. He continued softly, “Wife, ever since the first time we met, I’ve liked you.”
"Do you remember?"
"That night you got drunk at the bar."
"A man tried to take advantage of you, and I saved you."
I nodded, "I remember."
He continued gently, "You were so drunk that you kept calling out your ex-boyfriend's name."
"I was thinking, what kind of girl are you?"
"Why do you have someone else in your heart yet still cry so heartbreakingly?"
"So I took you back to the hotel."
"That night, I watched you cry until dawn before you finally fell asleep."
"At that moment, I thought to myself, I must make you happy."
"I won't let you cry again."
My eyes warmed, and I almost burst into tears.
He had liked me for so long.
I laughed and cried as I looked at him, "Then why didn't you tell me back then?"
He smiled gently, "I was afraid you'd reject me."
I couldn't help but laugh.
So he had his timid moments too.
He then said softly, "Wife, will you marry me?"
I nodded through my tears, "I will!"
He laughed joyfully and slipped the ring onto my finger.
I looked at him with a mix of laughter and tears, "Chen Haotian, I will definitely raise Little Cake with you!"
He smiled tenderly, "Mm."
"We will be together forever."
