The atmosphere of the family meeting was tense, like a taut bowstring ready to snap. I glanced around, and the familiar faces surrounding me appeared unusually serious, even tinged with hostility. My heart began to race, and my palms felt slightly sweaty, but I forced myself to remain calm, reminding myself that this meeting would determine not only my future but also the future of the Lin Family.
“Lin Yuan, since you took charge of the Lin Family Group, you have implemented a series of reforms, yet these measures have not yielded the expected benefits; instead, they have harmed the family's interests!” Lin Hai's voice thundered like a clap of thunder, shattering the silence in the meeting room. His hostile gaze seemed intent on devouring me.
I took a deep breath, striving to control my emotions. “ Uncle Lin Hai, I believe there are some misunderstandings regarding my reform measures.” My voice was steady and resolute. “My reforms are aimed at the long-term development of our family. While there may be some short-term pain, in the long run, they will undoubtedly bring greater benefits to the family.”
“Nonsense!” Lin Hai slammed his hand on the table and stood up. “Your so-called reforms are merely an excuse to eliminate dissenters and consolidate your own power!” His voice grew louder, his agitation increasingly evident.
I looked at him coldly without responding. I knew that Lin Hai's goal today was to bring me down. I was prepared and just waiting for him to reveal his true intentions.
“ Uncle Lin Hai, you claim that I have harmed the family's interests; then let me ask you, who benefits from your embezzlement of public funds and collusion with competitors?” As soon as my words fell, an uproar erupted in the meeting room.
Lin Hai's face turned pale instantly; he pointed at me, his lips trembling but unable to utter a single word.
Calmly, I retrieved a document from my briefcase and placed it on the table. “This is evidence of family business misconduct, including secret ledgers and forged relatives.” My gaze swept over everyone present. “I believe this evidence is sufficient to prove Uncle Lin Hai's crimes.”
Lin Hai was thoroughly rattled; he paced back and forth in the meeting room like a cornered beast, muttering repeatedly, “Impossible, this cannot be…”
“What else is impossible?” I produced another document. “This is a photograph and recording of Uncle Lin Hai meeting secretly with Zhao Tiancheng.”
In the recording, Lin Hai and Zhao Tiancheng conspired on how to frame me and divide up the assets of the Lin Family Group. Their voices echoed throughout the meeting room, each word piercing like a dagger into the hearts of everyone present.
Zhao Tiancheng turned pale; he attempted to flee the scene but was intercepted by bodyguards I had arranged.
The elders of the family were utterly shocked; they could never have imagined that Lin Hai and Zhao Tiancheng could be so despicable and shameless.
Grandfather had remained silent until now, but finally, he spoke. “Lin Hai, do you have anything to say?” His voice was deep and powerful, carrying an undeniable authority.
Lin Hai slumped in his chair like a puddle of mud, utterly unable to retort.
Grandfather's gaze shifted to me, filled with pride. “Lin Yuan, you did very well,” he said slowly. “You have proven your abilities and your loyalty to the family.”
A heavy weight lifted from my heart. I knew I had won.
“From today onward, I officially declare Lin Yuan as the sole heir of the Lin Family Group!” Grandfather's voice echoed throughout the conference room.
Applause erupted, and I felt the eyes of everyone on me, filled with joy and pride. I knew my future would be full of challenges, but I was ready.
Lin Hai and Zhao Tiancheng were ultimately handed over to the judicial authorities for prosecution, facing the severe consequences of the law. Meanwhile, I would lead the Lin Family Group towards an even more glorious future.
