Fang Jing Shu was taken aback; she had never expected Ke Wenbo to propose to her so suddenly. She looked at him, her eyes filled with surprise and joy.
"I... I do." Fang Jing Shu's voice trembled slightly, but her tone was resolute.
Her words, "I do," were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, instantly creating ripples that spread outwards. The guests were first stunned, then erupted into a louder commotion. Some applauded enthusiastically, others whispered among themselves, while a few looked utterly bewildered.
Ke Wenbo grasped Fang Jing Shu's hand tightly, their fingers intertwined as if he had seized a lifeline. He turned to the astonished Zheng Meiling and declared, "Manager Zheng, the wedding continues! The bride's name is now Fang Jing Shu; everything else remains the same!" His tone was firm and brooked no argument. At that moment, he resembled a cornered beast eager to break free from an awkward cage.
Zheng Meiling paused for a few seconds before regaining her composure. As a seasoned hotel manager, she quickly adjusted her demeanor and offered a professional smile. "Alright, Mr. Ke, I will arrange it immediately." While directing the staff to change the bride's name, she couldn't help but think to herself: This wedding is truly unprecedented; it's even more exciting than a television drama!
Dai Xinyi's mother was in the crowd like an ant on a hot pan, anxiously pacing back and forth. "What on earth is going on?" Dai Mu exclaimed as she grabbed hold of her husband. "Why did Dai Xinyi suddenly run off? Did Wenbo bully her?"
Her husband looked just as confused and shrugged helplessly. "I don’t know either! This child has never acted out like this before; what could possibly be happening today?"
Dai's face turned pale with anger as he struggled to suppress his frustration. "I’m calling Dai Xinyi right now; I need to get to the bottom of this!" He pulled out his phone but found that he couldn't get through to Dai Xinyi at all, which only heightened his anxiety as beads of sweat began to form on his forehead.
All of this was captured by the photographer Qin Xiaofeng, who raised his camera and quickly pressed the shutter, documenting this dramatic scene.
He felt a thrill of excitement inside: This is big news! I must post these photos online tomorrow; they might even trend!
Back at the wedding venue, the host bravely resumed his duties: "Ladies and gentlemen, today we are here to witness the sacred wedding of Mr. Ke Wenbo and Miss Fang Jing Shu."
In the audience, Wang Lina watched Fang Jing Shu with a complex expression. She knew how long Fang Jing Shu had harbored feelings for Ke Wenbo; today she finally got her wish fulfilled. But was this really the right way? She glanced at Ke Wenbo; although he wore a smile, there was a hint of melancholy and helplessness in his eyes.
Chen Jianguo, serving as the best man, also felt awkward at that moment. He approached Ke Wenbo and patted him on the shoulder, whispering, "Hey brother, are you alright?"
Ke Wenbo forced a bitter smile. "I'm fine; what could possibly be wrong? The wedding must go on, right?"
Chen Jianguo sighed. He knew that Ke Wenbo was hurting inside but didn't know how to comfort him. He could only stand silently beside him, offering unspoken support.
Lin Xiaoxuan looked at Fang Jing Shu with excitement shining in her eyes. She leaned closer and whispered in Fang Jing Shu's ear, "Fang Jing Shu, you’re amazing! You really managed to win Ke Wenbo over!"
Fang Jing Shu's cheeks flushed slightly as she shot Lin Xiaoxuan an admonishing glance. "Stop it! It’s not about winning or losing; Dai Xinyi gave up on him herself."
But Lin Xiaoxuan dismissed her words with a scoff. "Gave up? Hmph! I think she did it on purpose! She wanted to create an opportunity for you! Just enjoy your victory!"
Fang Jing Shu shook her head helplessly; she understood Lin Xiaoxuan's straightforward nature—always speaking without a filter. Yet deep down, she knew Lin Xiaoxuan was genuinely happy for her.
